BYE FELIPE

Agree agree agree

But Williams had to get a Brazilian driver to secure the money, and thanks to said driver and investment Williams are now a consistent podium challenger (again). But two years down there's another decent'ish Brazilian driver well known to Williams who has connections to money that can take over.

Guys, you're being a little harsh on Felipe. :o He's doing quite a decent job really. Except for the future potential, which is naturally linked to age, he's a solid opponent to Bottas.

Yes he's doing a solid job, but he's a limiting factor in the absolute success of Williams. He's not wasting the seat, but someone could be using it even better than Felipe is.

Formula 1 testing will return to Paul Ricard next year, Motorsport.com can reveal, with Pirelli organising a two-day wet weather run.

The test will take place on January 25-26 next year, using 2015 cars, and all current teams have been invited to participate.

The whole of the two days will be devoted to wet running, with Pirelli making use of the circuit's sprinkler system.

Although it is that site, it does sound believable.

the French GP should be held at Paul Ricard again. Should never have left the venue in the first place.

Silly season is now properly underway.

Dieter Rencken has reported that Ferrari wanted Verstappen for next year, but didn't want to buy him out of his contract, so they will keep Kimi for now and sign Verstappen for 2017.

On the engine side, Tobias Gruner is reporting that Red Bull are moving towards Mercedes as Ferrari are only prepared to offer them the Manor deal.

After seeing how good races Hungaroring produces, I'd eager to see Imola return to the calendar (as San Marino GP, not replacing Monza). Who knows how thrilling the racing could be there nowadays.
On the other hand, maybe we've only been lucky with Hungary lately.

As for Paul Ricard, I can't even watch racing there, the striped tarmac hurts my eyes. Lay grass or gravel there and why not. But I always liked Magny-Cours, especially the first sector has fantastic flow. So, if Sochi goes to bankrupt, bring back French GP.

to run Paul Ricard, they should simplify downforce and increase boost to see Monza speeds at Mistral

I honestly don't see a French GP soon. The general population is hostile to public spending on racing, so the many taxpayer-eating, couple-year lifespan venues that we saw florishing (and crashing) in other countries lately are not happening here.

Oh and fuck le Paul Ricard. Fuck it to hell. It's an abomination for the eye that doesn't deserve hosting a televised venue.

Plus the number of French drivers have dropped dramatically over the years since we had a good numbers of French drivers from the late 1970s and 1980s.

A lot of them graduated through the Elf series/academy. A bit like the Marlboro/Red Bull academy/sponsorships but there is nothing for the French drivers.

So F1 only got Grosjean haven't we?

who is a swiss born

Vergne is expected to return with a Haas drive, still plenty of talent there

there was also the Volant Shell that graduated to René Arnoux and Cévert to higher formulae

How about Rouen or Clermont Ferrand. I know, wishfull thinking. Magny cours produced Tilke-like races. Paul Ricard would be decent if, for the love of the gravel god, they bring back gravel traps.

Apart from LM Bugatti and Reims, are there more circuits on French soil. Pau?

Changes at Singapore

Image

Quote:
> Turn 11 re-aligned to sit tighter with the left-hand side of Fullerton Road for a slightly slower corner speed compared to 2014.

> Turn 12 modified slightly so that drivers now enter the left lane of Anderson Bridge, before accelerating towards Turn 13 at 200km/h – a similar speed to 2014.

> Turn 13 widened by one metre to enable more overtaking.

They need to open up turn 5 and lengthen the straight between turns 6 and 7.

I think Singapore looks better in the daytime myself. The buildings and trees can actually be seen.
