Another rare angle from Villeneuve's BAR-Honda during practice at Magny-Cours 2001, a typical front wing end plate cam but mounted on the inside of the end plate over the actual wing (same place as the shot we've seen where it looks across the front wing)

Slightly different version of the side mounted camera from Spa 2016 (Angled upwards more than usual).

Vettel had it on his car for Friday:

Was on Ricciardo's car Saturday.

With the usual more downward angled shot back on Vettel's car:

One on Ricciardo's car was back to the older style wider angle lens for qualifying:

The "upwards angled" shots have a more old school feel to them I think, as did the narrower angled lens, the wide angle we've been used to for years, coupled with the "side cams" being mounted so high up on the side of the car, gave more or less the same shot as a t-cam. Hardly revolutionary but at least FOM are trying

The camera man at FOM being risky and putting the rear facing nose cam on Ricciardo's Red Bull, for a change!

Many thanks! Another rare angle! Never knew this angle was used on the Sauber in 2001.

Cheers maclauren! Another cracking rare shot! Why can't F1 be like this these days with FOM moving the different angles around all the cars rather than just the same angles on the same cars.

Absolutely. Also shows how innovative F1 Digital+ was. Here's another shot:

FYI... I've heard theirs more F1 Digital+ Footage available from 1997 and 1998, specifically qualifying sessions, does anyone have the sessions from San Marino 1997 and Brazil 1998, to see if theirs footage from Trullis Minardi and Barrichello's Stewart respectively please?

Believe it or not, the only thing stopping these types of angles being used is the teams themselves! They'll bitch about for example: the aerodynamic affect, or obstructing a sponsor logo, or they want to put their own gadgets in the camera's place (that's why we don't get the mirror cam shot anymore as they stick sensors in the mirrors).

I'm pretty sure if it was down to the teams then they would ban onboard cameras altogether during a GP.

how can a camera shooting the driver's feet have any of these problems you're mentioning?
