There will be TV shots. Race control has multiple cameras which aren't available to the public, as well as onboard shots, plus there might have been an onboard camera or two still active on Sutil's car.

Not showing the accident is the correct thing to do, but I agree that perhaps race control could have aided information. The BBC talked for about five minutes without realising it was Bianchi that was involved. But in the initial uncertainty, that's something which is probably not on the forefront of their minds.

BBC guys are there and didn't have a clue either, they thought Sutil was down well after the red flag came out.

Did other channels realise what had happened? I got the impression that this was mainly a BBC screwup. Surely the driver tracker would have shown Bianchi as stopped in that area? The on-screen timing certainly showed him as 'Out' for some time before the BBC picked up on it.

I think it was partly a BBC screwup and partly because of lack of proper confirmation of what happened.

Take the image of the crane with Sutil's car under it but with the Biachi overlay. Might as well been a director screw up.

I agree, this is not an accident I want to see in a hurry.

Canal+ (France) took a bit of time, to understand what really happened.
Maybe 5 minutes happened between the moment the commentator said "It seems Bianchi is out", and the moment it had been confirmed there is a big problem with Bianchi, at the Sutil Crash place.

When he talked about Bianchi being stopped in the turn 7, while tlaking about Sutil's car being removed, I was thinking:"Wait... Turn 7 IS the Sutil positin, isn't it? Well, if the comentator didn't said so, maybe I'm wrong..."

I was watching BBC and once all the cars were in the pitlane after the red flag, I went to bed. Then I woke up in the morning and had to read the horrible news, also shocked that I didn't realize it during the race so I was like yes, BBC didn't say a single thing (at least until I went to bed)

Such a horrible accident, 20 years on from such a similar thing (Brundle). I'm hoping for the best.

I saw a telemetry clip from the accident and it didn´t seem that Bianchi lifted off before exiting the track at turn 7.
Also, many other drivers passed the accident scene at very high speed.

Why didn´t the drivers slow down entering the corner despite a double-yellow situation?
Are the teams given information about caution-zones? Do they pass this information along to the drivers?

All over internet I read posts blaming FIA and the organizers, but I don´t think that FIA and the organizers are the only ones to blame here.
The teams and drivers also have a responsibility against track workers and opponents.

Maybe we will se some new regulations after this crash.
For now I am just praying for som good news about Jules condition.

Those pics seem to show a dislodged piece of cockpit padding, rather than his hand - at least that's how I see it. It's not impossible for the force of the accident to have caused his visor to pop open, especially if his helmet flexed.

Not quite the same thing, but when Richard Hammond had his jet car accident, his visor somehow ended up open before he stopped.

L'Equipe, according to a tweet from Canal+ commentator: Bianchi's parents arrived at the hospital.

Hopefully more news soon then.

I'm fearing they're there to say goodbye and he's only alive because he's on life support. I so hope I'm wrong.

The shot with Sutil is just haunting.
