I think that's basically what has happened. Lewis is just making a meal of it to get the media on his side, and maybe an investigation

Yeaa, that's what I've been wondering. Get your rival in trouble.

Totally agree. Perhaps Nico made a joke or sarcastic comment / admission which has been taken out of context?

I also agree, but I can't see Nico as a driver who makes this kind of comments, he usually stays out of the clusterfuck

wow

I hope Rosberg gets banned for monza.

I mean the team can always punish its own driver, they have a third driver, so they don't affect the team in the constructor championship.

Yeah, he most likely will get banned for at least Monza, probably for at least 4 races.

True - there's a HUGE difference between 'I left my car there on purpose' and 'I drove into you'. From the reports, it looks like Rosberg probably said the former and then Hamilton is relying on the British media and nascarf1indycar to infer the latter.

Purposely driving into another driver is stupid, but leaving your nose in and forcing the other driver to decide the outcome isn't too uncommon, is it?

Which bit got Magnussen the penalty, the pushing Alonso wide on the straight or in the corner?

Straight was worse imo, more consequences at 200mph...

Tbh I can't believe he saw Jenson alongside him and didn't just think "he's my teammate, I'll let him go and defend hard from the other two cars swarming around us"

His lack of critical thinking in the moment cost Mclaren today

But hey, he's a rookie, he'll learn.

Popularised by one A. Senna.

Say, are there any hero-worshippers of Senna in F1 nowadays? Driving for Mercedes, perhaps?

If this was NASCAR or BTCC I'd imagine Nico would be getting a few taps into the corner

Fortunately this is F1 and there's no real way to deliberately hit someone without damaging your own car too (eh, Nico :p ) so I doubt it'll come to that

Lewis can't just banzai him, he needs somehow for Nico to be out but for him to be undamaged and win.

Anyway, it's stupid to speculate, this is what won't happen, this is just all heat of the moment stuff ATM, they have 2 weeks to cool off again now so hopefully calmer heads will be donning helmets in Monza than taking them off at Spa.

Confirmation from Merc that the Lewis quotes are accurate, and are a reflection of what is believed to have been said in the meeting.

It's fucking on now, chaps!

Nico: I didn't move my car out of the way
Lewis: He rammed me on purpose!

But of a fucking leap there.

I can't say I'm surprised that Lewis ran to the media and disclosed details of a confidential/internal team meeting. We don't really know what exactly Nico admitted and I'm sure there's an element of exaggeration in Lewis' version of the story. I'm sure the truth lies somewhere in the middle as always.

Either way though, MGP have some damage control on their hands and the script going into Monza just got very juicy indeed!

They just reported that on Sky News while seemingly suggesting that the FIA should take action & that Nico should be given a 1 race ban
