Would still prefer those Pit rules now tbh. Used to shake up the order a treat and turn races that were looking to be dull into suprisingly good ones.

I'd prefer pit rules whereby every car can be serviced at the same time. But F1/FIA doesn't want to go that way.

Kimi is suddenly faster than Fernando. Looks like the accident was a needed shake-up to put the pieces together. ;)

So what difference has the removal of FRIC made to the competitiveness of the field in Hockenheim?

Or now that FRIC is gone the car suits his driving style better.

We may see more spins from the back markers.

That's it .

So you're saying that a suspension system that's been integral to the design of the 2014 cars that is now removed is going to make next to no difference whatsoever. Why so defeatist / glass half-empty? Yet you still think Austria 1998 was a "great race".

So track limits aren't going to be an issue this weekend?

WTF? This is the one place where I'd expect them to be stricter about it than most, particularly at turn 1 :slaphead:

I remember Vettel getting a penalty and losing the race in 2010 due to track limits

He lost P2 or P3, not the race iirc.

Correct, and Codename mentioned it in an earlier post. It was in 2012.

Ah I see, is because 2010 was marked by the "Fernando is faster than you" incident but I always forget this

Are the spectators still celebrating the world cup victory or something? Where is everyone?

I guess most spectators tried to stay in the shade somewhere. The place was not too crowded, but it looks less on those pics than it was.
I was at the hairpin and it was damn hot about 31 C in the shadow, but there wasn't any....

Impressive bracking , sound was not the crap that I expected, but too silent indeed imo

You asked about the competitiveness of the field though. I don't think the removal of this system will suddenly see the Williams or Red Bull challenging the Mercedes
Based on practice it may well have improved Mclaren's lot, but that could be down to scheduled updates anyway.

I do think it'll make the cars a bit harder to drive, so from the top guys we might see a few more slides and those lower down the order won't quite have the overall downforce/talent levels to hold those slides, hence my comment about spins.

But, as ever, only racing conditions will fully answer the FRIC question.

Yes I asked about the competitiveness of the field but your answer merely reflected around 2/3 cars, hence my response (sorry for my snappiness, I've been sick all week). From what I saw today it was far closer in practice than what we've been used to. Yes it is only practice but Mercedes made comment that tyres for them will be far more marginal this weekend and Lewis said not having FRIC was making the it harder to find the 'frikkin' sweet spot. (Like what I did there?)

If there was a weekend in 2014 where we weren't guaranteed a Mercedes victory (barring reliability) then this is it. If Vettel gets his head in the game this could be his weekend, failing that Ricciardo.

So, if a driver goes beyond the white lines in qualifying will the laptime be deleted? Haven't seen times being removed yet.
