How do you know how loud they were without being at the track?

Even when they turned the V8s down to 18000RPM they wod still make your ears bleed. Also, fact of engineering is you can't go fast without making a lot of noise.

The only exception with fast to loud I can think of was when I went to the Indy 500..I said to my mate expect them to be loud like F1 but they were surprisingly quiet. Of course no where near doing as many revs.

Just heard the cars now and sounds alright to me.

I expected that. I just cannot grab files and see pictures from Toto's server. We discussed it privately a few months ago, nothing would work :( Only if someone uploads Toto's files elsewhere so I can see them. But who would do that only for ONE "disabled" guy lol ? :p

I have uploaded on my other server for you, check your PM.

So can we bring back the old nickname 'teapot' for the turbo engines as Renault earned the nickname when they launched the first turbo engine in 1977 and it sounded like a whistling teapot.

Also, because they steamed like one.

After looking at a few pictures of the Ferrar on track I think the front is terrible.

Thanks for posting these; they're pretty informative. Koby would have actually qualified 22nd for the 1997 GP!

Today has been declared a wet test day, so I wouldn't expect anything approaching a representative time. Should give Pirelli something to smile about for once, though.

I understand the disillusion when you compare them to the V10s and V12s of days gone by, but the V8's always sounded like shit to me. Especially when they cut the life out of them in 2009

I went to the Canadian GP twice (2005 & 2006) so I got to hear the transition from V10 to V8. And because I sat near the hairpin both years, I could hear all sound characteristics (deceleration, low revs, acceleration). To me, an unlimited V8 would sound louder than the previous year's V10s, minus the Honda. Damn that engine was loud ! The STR was weird though, hearing that familiar sound stopping halfway through its potential lol.

Thankfully I didn't get to go with those castrated V8s lol. Can't wait to go during the new turbo era :) Not this year though :(

Interesting as most people are on gardening leave for a while before they can go to work at another team. Is Lotus being nice her or yet another mistake from them?

You have a very good point, and this is a very common contractual term these days. It makes me wonder if Lotus were somehow in breach of his contract - more pay issues, perhaps?

It sounds really good as well.

Ferrari is fairly quiet though.

Chimneys, like they used to have in 2000 and 2001... I guess Matt Morris brought them back to life when he moved from Sauber to McLaren.

They didn't pay him and won't pay him for the leave I'd imagine, so he's free to do whatever he wants maybe?

logical view and worrying perspective of the Lotus financial state.
