Mind boggling the difference in car setup with the ground effect - Pironi ran a front wing. Gilles did not .

another amusing thing is how well his helmet blended with the car itself. I'd say that despite not winning and being his last ride, is one well matched combination. 28 years today

Does anyone have the color code like this one? I wanna do a tribute on iRacing, helmet yellow code included.

4 of them died in various crashes before the boy in the middle was 15 years old.

40 years since we lost Gilles. Even in a dog of a car he could pull some nice moves

Epic commentary by brazillian broadcaster

"Not today, not today!!! Yes today. Yes today?!"

Yeah, that was one day to remember as one day to forget. Only thing I remember from that year.

I'd say that's perhaps the best commentary in a sporting event that doesn't involve a big victory. The true resentment expressed by commentators, sometimes they don't know what to say plus the whole anticipation on the final made it so brilliant. That's why I still keep Cleber Machado in very high regards, the guy is a legend. He was damn pissed with a good reason

plus there's a quite funny personal story from me. I was watching the race and by the final lap a marching band was going through my street and I went to see actually missing the checkered flag. When I returned and saw Michael Schumacher as winner I wasn't understanding anything. Then I saw the replay and just laughed at this 7x1 moment

Even James Allen and Mark Blundell couldn't hold back their feelings (Shame that Brundle wasn't in the box for that race).

It's interesting reading the Miami thread about the attitude towards Hamilton/Mercedes vs the attitude towards Schumacher/Ferrari. Watching this video and thinking back to that era reminds me that I was equally sick of Ferrari. Maybe it was less obvious because there wasn't the social media presence that we have now, but I remember lots of anger on these forums at the time.

Oh yeah I remember that. Such outrage over it and well justified of course.

Schumacher finished 2002 with nearly double the points of Barrichello. Utterly insane year.

I was annoyed with Ferrari dominance back then and yes Ferrari were pricks (with this being a good example) but still enjoyed it more than the Mercedes/Lewis dominance era.

I love how Villeneuve's engine randomly blew at the end of that race.
