The first race at Kyalami 57 years ago was also the first points paying GP to be held in a monday, given it was the first non church day in the Commonwealth

Also Pedro Rodríguez first win and also the first one for Mexico

Remember when the F1 season used to start in January. The last such occasion was 1982 when Prost won a crazy race in Kyalami :flag:

I´m not sure, but I don´t think a lot of members on this forum are old enough to be following F1 in 1982.

All I remember from the race was Prost fighting back to win after suffering a puncture. The drivers' protest leading up to the race is an interesting read, though.

Weirdly, I could tell you something about most of the races from 1982. But anything from 2010 - 2022 all blends into one.
