Probably won't watch qualifying. It's on the same night as Germany versus Holland/Portugal. I forget who they're placing first and will probably go down the bar to watch it. Will have to torrent qualifying.

Hopefully the race is awesome, but awesome enough to end before England versus France :p

If the DRS zone will be after last chicane like in your picture then im afraid it wont work, cuz is too short. They should go back with 2 zones from 2011 - it was good.

Actually, my picture shows that it's been painted black over. So, basically, no DRS on the pit straight. Or will they change that within the next week ?

To have DRS working properly, it has to be in the straight before the chicane, so they could use the chicane for the overtaking move.

I just hope they won't have another DRS zone on the straight after the hairpin. That was a bit too much and made it way too easy.

+1

Last year it was a farce. I felt really gutted for Michael. Anybody there will be a sitting duck. In order to keep the DRS zone in that straight, they need to reduce the length by at least some 150m

Here's the Championship Standings as it would be in the old 10-6-4-3-2-1 system, amazingly, 3 drivers would be tied with 22 pts in the lead...

Drivers Standings:

01 - Fernando ALONSO - 22 Pts
02 - Sebastian VETTEL - 22 Pts
03 - Mark WEBBER - 22 Pts
04 - Nico ROSBERG - 18 Pts
05 - Jenson BUTTON - 16 Pts
06 - Lewis HAMILTON - 14 Pts
07 - Kimi RAIKKONEN - 12 Pts
08 - Pastor MALDONADO - 10 Pts
09 - Romain GROSJEAN - 08 Pts
10 - Sergio PEREZ - 06 Pts
11 - Kamui KOBAYASHI - 03 Pts
12 - Bruno SENNA - 01 Pt
13 - Paul DI RESTA - 01 Pt
14 - Felipe MASSA - 01 Pt

Teams Standings:

01 - Red Bull - 44 Pts
02 - McLaren - 30 Pts
03 - Ferrari - 23 Pts
04 - Lotus - 20 Pts
05 - Mercedes - 18 Pts
06 - Williams - 11 Pts
07 - Sauber - 09 Pts
08 - Force India - 01 Pt

Its amazing to see that after 6 races, the leader would have only 22 pts and the difference from the 1st to the 7th is only 10 pts

Still, it's the BTCC/Canada double, who needs Le Mans?

Last year had great DRS, imo. Why change it?

They're willing to look at it and learn from their mistakes, and that includes times when it's become over-used, not just the times when it gets underused...

I assume wherever they put it, the DRS zone will be shorter this year than last.
Would've been the same if we'd have gone to turkey too. FIA were just learning as they were doing last year, this year would be slightly closer to what it was intended to be.

I for one am in favour of it, I'd rather defend an exciting race due to DRS than moan about a boring race without it!

All the angles from digital tv were so much better than the usual ones we're having since the 90s. The tracks themselves looked better, the camera positions were chosen carefully so as the corners shape looks the best on the TV. And it did, compared to the normal angles. I wonder why they didn't take over these positions after they dropped digital in 2003.

I am sure you all see what I mean. It was particularly striking at tracks with sweeping curves like Suzuka. It looked sexy on digital TV.

Because TV uses the angles which best pleases sponsors. F1 would look *so* much better with different views; like the ones we sometimes see in race edits. Monaco's a bit of an exception because of the streets, but you only have to look at the shots to see that they placate sponsors.

But from last year, the pit straight shot at Silverstone

It's why we also have the shots that means we can see sponsors on the cars best

I always thought the billboards were placed according to camera angles, not the opposite.

They are, but the cameras intentionally zoom in on the billboards. The most obvious case is at the entrance of the tunnel, where the shot stays on for an extra 2-3 seconds just to see the sponsor on the tunnel.

I believe it was 143 points out of a possible 150. He won all Grand Prix' except the Chinese where he finished 2nd.

Yep. In fact, Vettel, Hamilton, Button & Webber all have less points than they did at this stage last year. Alonso has more!
