Oh well, I guess it's only right that Lewis is the first to the Indian stewards room

Double yellows and green? Thats odd.
Not really.

Double yellow's indicating the start of the yellow zone, The green indicating the end of it.

Yes, but there was no danger on track. Maldonado's car was clear - therefore the computer monitor was showing green everywhere, yet there were yellows waved on one tiny part of the track

I wonder how much the times will improve, the track seemed really green in this first practice, can't wait for FP2.

A lot of them are from the Bahrain Grand Prix, so they're probably happy not to be shot.

And a lot are British, and I assume Australian.

Perez and Lewis have been given 3 place grid penalties for ignoring double waved yellows.

Less has been given for that in the past, but fair in light of recent events

A little harsh I think given the yellows wasn't shown in the screen and it was probably just down to a marshall not paying attention

Think that means Lewis has broken his own record (from 2008) of most penalties in a season. At least he achieved something this year then

Well if it had been a stationary yellow then they tend to get away with it. But double waved yellows, you don't fuck around with. It also depends on what excuses they gave when pulled up.

Safety is not an option.

Problem is there's so much cause for difference. Hamilton accepted the penalty, but he's not necessarily the only one. Quite a few other cars were also skirting with their PBs, and what does 0.5s/sector mean in terms of danger: very little.

As Mika Hakkinen used to say (and do), the point is you are showing you are paying attention to the situation, and not just blatantly ignoring it. Mika often gave a small wave to show he was aware of what was going on, but I think they put an end to that.

And half a second in 1 corner, whilst it won't make a difference in terms of impact speeds should the worst happen, it will make a huge difference on how close to the edge you are. Half a second off is a fairly large lift to bring you well within the limits of the car, which is the point there.

True.

Just noticed the 'DW' ribbon on the side of the Virgin.

I think this is a nice track, although why Turn 3 and 4 are so wide is anyone's guess.

One on Rubens helmet too. Probably others that we'll spot throughout the weekend. It's kinda nice.

Renaults tripping over each other.

This is my first view of the circuit, missed FP1. Kinda cool.
