Well there was tarmac last year and then gravel so they've neutered it a bit already.

About 0:28 you can see the tarmac, remember

Duh, forgot about that, again at least safety has moved on enough so we can have racing incidents, accidents without fatalities. This is why I said that theres no need for drivers to be complaining about what are in the grand scheme of things, non issues. (perhaps not as eloquently as I could have.)

Well yeah, I see what you mean. Any fatalities in F1 are going to be down to an extreme lack of luck. Although there's either the argument that F1 has been riding its luck or its just the norm. For example, Kubica survived Canada 2007, Kovalainen Spain 2008, Webber Valencia 2010. But all you need is to hit a concrete wall at an angle (who was it, Marco someone at Magny Cours in 1995, F3000) or that poor marshal in Australia in 2001 when the wheel went through at exactly the right angle to kill someone in order for tragedy to strike.

Both Degner 1 and 2 had gravel traps with a bit of artificial and real grass.

Tarmac would kill the whole purpose of the double Degner, which is to properly destroy you if you bottle it the slightest in the first turn.

Really looking forward to this race. I will be able to watch it live, and the fact the champion will most certainly be decided there -although in rather predictable fashion- brings up some nice memories of early awakenings to fully live the championship battles on this track :)

When asked whether he believed DRS could be used through 130R in qualifying, Liuzzi said: "That is a good question. I am planning to make the weekend more challenging by trying it! But it is not going to be easy. For us with the weakness of downforce we have, it will be tough - but more fun and exciting."

Liuzzi in the wall first? :p

They should let Chandok drive, so he can practice before India

Those accidents Lewis has been in, or most of his accidents, come together with his driving style. Some think that's nonsense, I don't. Lewis is always on the edge, outbraking other drivers when most people think it would have been impossible. This driving style has resulted in some fantastic races, where it looked so easy to overtake without nowadays aids. In Lewis' GP2 season in 2006 en his first years in F1 it worked out very well for him.

This year it hasn't. For the first time he has a teammate who's most of the time just as quick as him, or quicker. Lewis, as a true racer, can't stand that, resulting in some incidents which aren't good for his confidence. As soon as the results come back, he will gain that confidence again like in his first years of F1. From that day on we'll all be able to enjoy one of the best racers in the history (in my opinion) of F1 again and we can discuss things like how the hell it was possible when he made another allmost impossible move again.

I feel a little sorry for Trulli. He's definitely been right on the pace of Heikki since they changed his steering.

So my dad flew from Germany to Japan yesterday, and apparently on his flight was an F1 driver and team. Of course he didnt bother to remember who they were by the time he spoke to me today

It took him a week to remember he met Allan McNish when he sat next to him on a flight several years ago so give it time and Im sure Ill know just what level of pissed off I can be by not being there too

Well, Vettel definitely has no problems keeping his DRS open through 130R.
