It had been rumoured for a while because of Nurburgring's money issues.

Hockenheim is hardly in good health though, which is why they decided to split the races.

Still, build a roller coaster at a track and you ask for it (unless it's Abu Dhabi of course). Build a roller coaster that breaks and destroys half the pits and that's a bit predictable.

it was probably the worst decision one could make. I imagine the planning got approved just before the crisis hit in September 2008.
Horrible.

Slightly odd calendar too with the big gaps and then back-to-back races. Unless that's just easier for people.

It is a world championship, but it's tough on a lot of people that work in the sport. Not just physically, but financially. Most teams are based in Europe, ditto journalists, so a lot of the time the calendar doesn't make sense.

I mean, I can't work out why they don't have Abu Dhabi and Bahrain back-to-back

Also the 3-week gap between Malaysia and China??

Anyway, now F1 is getting really international, They go to all continents except Africa but that isn't going to happen soon unfortunately (unless F1 accepts to race on horrible WTCC street tracks).

And despite the whining, one third of the races are still in Europe and that's more than enough. This is a vast world.

South Africa would still probably the preference if F1 were to drive in that continent.

Yes. Can't say there are many other candidates (aside from Morrocco perhaps but that's a far shot)

Well assuming Weehawken passes everything it needs to, I'll be getting my tickets as soon as they go on sale.

My Mum has a friend who lives on Cape Cod. I wonder if I could convince them that I could stay there and get a media ticket and hotel rooms for the Canada/NJ double :p

The only way i see SA coming back to F1 would either to rebuild Kyalami or build a whole new track.

Yeah that won't be an easy journey. Cape Cod is in the arse end of nowhere in MA. Lovely place for a holiday but not convenient for a Canada/NJ double-header.

Plus I'm offended that you've not realised you have a friend that lives on the doorstep of Weehawken...

I know it's still a long way from anywhere. In all honesty, it's a fantasy not a reality!

It should be an amazing race and if I was that close I'd sure as hell be there! I know a lot of journalists are pissed off at the conduct of Austin, so let's hope they don't do the same things for New Jersey.

On another note, just realised that there's no more European Grand Prix.

I'd love to do Monaco though :p

Monza is the next race that I'd love to go to. Monaco... Lots of money, and there aren't many places where you get to see a lot of the cars, yet I still rate it as one of the best races I've been to. It's just a fantastic experience. I just never seem to have the money for these things anymore. :(

How long have you been in America, Kieran?

I know. Money, money, money. I know that to get somewhere, I'll have to break the bank and hope I get an opportunity with an outlet looking for someone. Winter testing might be the best place to try!

Kieran, how is life over there compared to here? :)

I don't get that huge gap in the first leg of the F1 Tour through Asia. Surely teams and other people involved get back to Europe to go once again to Asia.

Anyway, glad to see São Paulo closing the championship once again, even though I haven't even the least desire to watch a race there.
