As mentioned, the Ferrari looks disgustingly bad on track. I hope that nose gets destroyed a lot this season. Words cant explain just how bad it looks. By contrast, the McLaren looks positively stunning.

I've read that Kimi's fastest lap was set just as a load of Lotus's sponsor representatives arived at the track.

With the whole sale of Proton and the new buyers offloading Group Lotus I'm not surprised they'd pull a Prost F1.

You don't need to pull "Prost F1" or "Arrows" when you have driver like Kimi.

And if you look at the time charts, Force India is not that far behind of Renault. Of course it's once again Melbourne that will demonstrate the real speed of all the teams and drivers.

Didn't we say the same about HRT with Bruno Senna?? Look how that ended?
Kimi will cost them a lot of dimes and with Group Lotus potential sale and possible withdrawal because of this, they could use it....

HRT will most likely have a new livery for the season, as they were using just a white scheme today:

Also, I like the new logo on the nosecone:

What I hate about this era's cars : ride height is higher than my SUV, stupidly small and high rear wing, horrible looking step on the nose, useless extra-large front wing. Please reduce the size of the front wing, enlarge the rear wing and reduce its height, and BAN that stupid rule for the nose. Now it is even more dangerous with that angle they have at the end of the nose. I wouldn't want to be hit by that !

The same in very high-res: http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7022/6836 ... 9808_o.jpg

If you look closely, if it wasn't for the bulges on the sides for the suspension, the step would hardly be noticeable.

hang on... are you comparing a proven F1 race winner and World Champion with a driver who hadn't even done a F1 race before?

Sounds like the RB8 is driving around like it's on rails. Defs not seen what it is capable of, really can't see anyone touching that team again this year.

No, I'm comparing 3-time champion and icon's nephew and Kimi.
We all said his name alone would bring in cash because there are still millions who worship Senna.
We all think that Lotus is not over stretching their budget with F1, GP2, LMP2, Indycars and introducing several new roadcars. Especially since the company hasn't made profit in years. Nor did it's parent company Proton.

With Proton being sold, the whole Group Lotus situation is even more in doubt. On a Dutch F1 site Lopez already said the team would keep the Lotus name even if Group Lotus cancels its backing. So there is smoke already.

So yes, I really do expect them to do a Prost F1 to impress sponsors. Especially with Kimi behind the wheel. Fast times and Kimi means potential racewins. Which potential sponsor wouldnt want that?

From our reporter in Jerez

'People around here are quite impressed with Force India and not at all with Ferrari. Let's see how the things in Australia look like, but that's the feeling around right now.'

All that for a pre season test? I know its the first test of the year but that is pretty bloody serious! I guess I imagined old school reporting of people hanging around the edge of the track and garages trying to get a scoop, not a fully fledged media center for a pre season test.
