From now on, can we just not have penalties. Pre-2008, I don't remember us having penalties. Since then for every bit of contact someone gets a DT. It got a bit better in 2010, but the inconsistency is still there.

Ya, srsly. The only person even faintly deserving of a penalty today is Kobayashi, and not for the incident itself, but for not giving the position back after he pushed Sutil out of the way.

If you gain an advantage by cutting the chicane, penalty justified. eg Monza, Nouvelle Chicane, Les Combes etc

If you just hit another driver, why penalise them? Especially seeing as Lewis didn't benefit from the Massa contact!

Anyway, woo, Montreal :)

Something in the rules about causing an avoidable accident.

If you think this is bad, you would've bloody hated 1994.

Charlie and Herbie just need to drum it into drivers' heads that it is not okay to throw a move up the inside and hope that the driver in front concedes rather than risks a race-ending collision. Loews is not a regular passing place. Michael managed to catch Lewis by surprise on lap 1 but there have been many occasions in the past where drivers have tried a move there and the result has been the same as it was today.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Speaking of Herbie, I loved his BBC interview. EJ asked him why they continued the race, Herbie was like 'Because its a race!'

I voted for Kobayashi. He made a great race for Sauber this weekend. But Maldonado did also a great race until he ends up in the barrier. But he is missing in the poll list

10 points for the Monaco race. That was F1-like and compared to last week more than 10... ;) :flag:

Man this thread is giving me some laughs. Some of the reactions to Hamilton quoting Ali G are utterly priceless, as are the attempted justifications to Lewis' penalities. Awesome stuff, please keep it up, the stupidity is keeping me well entertained.

If you think this is funny, you should go to Atlas

I still think the Massa clash penalty is shitty. Can fully understand the Maldonado one for Lewis, but the funny thing is that he attacked, got a penalty and got 6th. Had he stayed calm, Lewis would be 7th not 6th :p

Surprised at the lack of support for Alonso. He ragged the shit out of his car.

The inconsistency I agree is still shit. The rules are that if you cause an avoidable accident you should get a penalty. Theres been too many times when stewards have had different interpretations over the years of whats avoidable and that needs to be sorted out. The driver steward hasn't helped this and I think the only way to do it would to be have permanent stewards.

Your attempts to justify Hamilton are amusing phil. Your coming across incredibly fanboy-ish. Both penalties were deserved and I really can't see any justification otherwise. He was a major part in two people going out of the race and yet Lewis still claims that nothing is his fault?

What annoyed me more than the "Is it coz I iz black" line was just the arrogance from Hamilton in that interview. It was clear it was a joke but it's just an incredibly stupid thing to say, even as a joke and he should know what the media are like. Racism isn't something you casually throw around as a funny excuse.

Paul di Resta made mistakes during the race and copped similar penalties and owned up to them. Hamilton in similar circumstances lost his cool. Maybe with past situations it is more understandable that he wouldn’t be as calm but he completely lost his temper and revealed a rather unsettling feeling of superiority regarding other drivers, or at least those he was in incidents with.

I want to like Lewis but every couple of races he opens his mouth and reveals he's a bit of a tool.

But Lewis had the common sense on lap one to recognize Schumi was there, and didn't turn in on him. I wonder if he did, do you think Schumacher would have deserved a penalty?

And I still think Massa should have got a penalty, because as I saw it he knew Hamilton was there and made a conscious decision to move across early to block him.

Bingo

and LOL at Magnifico's ignorant rant. Anyone who thinks Hamilton is throwing around racism as a joke or part of a complaint needs to go watch an episode of Ali G before coming back here
