Long straights should suit a high HP low drag setup, has McLaren written all over it. Should be a Webber/Hamilton fight

This event could be significant in this year's F1 season,

McLaren should own, but they have to ride the kerbs well too. Force India to be on the podium I reckon.

William Hill have Button at 7/1 and Sutil at 33/1. Almost worth a bet

I think you're going to lose your money. On Button, that is.

Sutil for a podium, on the other hand...

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

It isn't just about straight line speed, though

I remember back in 2007 we were all expecting Ferrari to dominate as they'd dominated at all the other high speed tracks. But the car wasn't good over the kerbs. The McLaren was better, and Alonso headed a McLaren 1-2

So while McLaren are clearly favourites here, aside from that I think it's best to wait until qualifying. I fancy Adrian and Tonio for some points but I think a podium is a long shot - the gap between the front and the midfield this year compared to last year is much wider, so I doubt they'll suddenly be able to just leap to the front. I think they'll be roughly where they were at Spa

They'll be better than they were in Spa. They really struggled in S2 but were very close to McLaren in S1.

I was on the Monza circuit 1,5 months ago. Nice to see them racing there next week. :)

I wish somehow they could fix the banking and use the old circuit with the dual laps.

Of course, I'm just dreaming here, but that'd be insane as fuck if that happened.

They could exit Parabolica (on the GP circuit), go onto the oval and rejoin the GP circuit after Parabolica.

I quite like the way that the old oval looks now. Its properly historic and nostalgic looking.

It looks like the American grand prix at Indianapolis and this idea is not so good I think (the F1 is not the Nascar).

Michelin had problems with the ovals (USA 2005).

BTW I love how this is being discussed as if it would actually happen.

Exactly like that. It'd make Monza more of a challenge.

A challenge? HA! What could possibly be challenging about an oval...

It's not just the oval, it's the oval and the current Monza track.
