The poll after Hungarian GP gave this result:

Mark Webber 10,9 % (14)
Nico Rosberg 5,4 % (7)
Sebastian Vettel 3,9 % (5)
Nelsinho Piquet 3,9 % (5)
Adrian Sutil 2,3 % (3)
Kazuki Nakajima 0,8 % (1)
Driver currently not in F1 9,3 % (12)

Sébastien Bourdais was in the poll but didn't receive any votes.

Webber....please. It's been way too long.

You'd have to say Heidfeld, but then again, him and Webber have had so many chances and not been able to convert them into victories. Maybe Nelsinho, of the current crop, he seems best suited to driving a car on worn tyres having run some crazy heavy strategy as part of a one stopper. If a safety car falls at the right time, as in Germany, there's no reason a win won't fall into his lap. Then again, I do rate him generally, so maybe he'll get one on merit if Renault are competitive with the 09 rules.

Heidfeld. He just had to win one eventually, I reckon even this year, maybe his last chance if he moves from BMW.

Of course, Webber would have to be the next probable candidate. That would be a magic day.

Heidfeld is the most armed driver to win a race soon.

Other drivers are skilled, but their car can't allow them to be 1st, unless there is very special conditions.

But more the time goes, more I think Nick will be a new Chris Amon.

Nick's got 4 races and then his chance is gone, possibly for good, if the Alonso rumours are to be believed. He'll some major luck.

Neither Glock nor Webber have the car for it this year without luck. Neither do Sutil or Nakajima. Rosberg has been naff since Malaysia to be honest and Piquet has slipped back into mediocrity since Hockenheim.

This year, I could probably see Bourdais winning a race. He seems to have the equipment for it and if we get another wet race or two coming up, he's the best non-winner to take advantage of it, imo.

Next year, well...who knows?

Indeed.

Judging from that list I don't think we'll see any new winners in normal circumstances for a while, would have to take a crazy event like this weekend to produce a surprise winner.

By the car preformance, Nick heidfeld has the best chances, But i voted for Nico Rosberg. He is a talented driver and only needs a good car to make good results.

What can he do with a Williams struggling for pace...

who says the car won't improve next year? with the new aerospecs
I don't think we will have an other non-mclaren/ferrari winner this season

Timo Glock. Nick and Mark are out of motorsport luck to get it, others are not getting proper machinery soon enough to beat Timo with his Toyota. :whistling:

But if he goes to Toro Rosso as rumoured then he'll still be in a race winning team

I don't think it'll be Heidfeld or Mark. They're both too unlucky and are heading for the ranks of the best drivers never to win already. I've got a feeling it could end up being someone like Nakajima or Bourdais or Piquet

I think it could be a while yet - before Button won, the previous new winner was Trulli over 2 years previously. Before that it was Fisichella a year before. It's only recently that we've had a run of new winners - Button, Massa, Lewis, Kubica, Kovalainen and Vettel all in the last 2 years

I voted Nick at another forum but I'm going with Rosberg. But I've got a feeling it won't be either, or if it is Nico it won't be for a year or 2 until he gets a decent car

Alonso won between the two Italian's as well.

However, I say this with the greatest respect to Toro Rosso, but I just feel a move there will be a move to mid grid mediocrity. It will be a race winning team in name. Only Toyota can now not claim to have race winning pedigree, but I honestly feel, laying out all 10 seats to me for next year, I'd put them 8th or 9th on my list.

but the team wouldn't be very winning if Redbull takes over the ferrari engines and STR drives with cheap honda engines

But if Heidfeld goes to STR, they won't get Honda engines because Sato won't be his team-mate. It's Heidfeld or Sato or Bourdais with Buemi or Senna.

Ferrari have admitted that they are struggling with KERS. I don't think it'll be the engine to have in 2009.

Bourdais. We can have another crazy wet race this season and Torro Rosso is the third fastest team at the moment. If he didn't have his grid problem last race he would have finished on the podium (his pace was pretty good during the race)

I was right with the last poll, I only predicted Vettel would win next year instead of this year :)

But Heidfeld has the best chances obviously, but I don't vote for the obvious
