Aren't these wings fairly stable without their weird endplates? If nothing else has fallen off since then, I guess there's less risk.

If he backed out of it in T1, Perez would've had the inside line for T2 and come out in P3 at worst. Which would've still been a pretty good start making up 2 places and likely podium in front of the home fans. Way way way too overoptimistic move instead ends in tears for him and several fans I suspect.

With Riccardo driving better at this round than Perez has been recently in the Alpha, I'd say it's imminent
