*grabs popcorn*

He managed to torpedo the most slickly-run team in F1 and almost beat their child prodigy driver. Rich Dad and Crap Son are a walk in the park by comparison.

He'll make Stroll Jr cry and get sacked...

boring

At least in 2002/2004, someone else won Monaco

That and any wet races are about all we have to look forward to

and Spa was a good one

at least El Plan is working, Alonso is aging like a fine wine

Last year we had a Ferrari 1-2 and Verstappen retiring, now we have a Red Bull 1-2 and Leclerc retiring.
Anything can happen!

(But it won´t)

Thank goodness Fernando is in a decent car. Might very well be the only interesting thing about this season unless today’s RB dominance was a fluke and they aren’t really THAT much better than the other 9 teams.

Not much positive to be said about this race, except the fantastic drive of Alonso.

Not only did he fight his way to the front after being 7th early on, he did it on track, on pace, instead of good tactics, luck and pit stops.

His 3 passings on Russell, Hamilton and Sainz were all beauties that sometimes lasted several corners, and he did them on 3 different parts of the track.

HoF level shenanigans from Alonso might be the reason to follow F1 this year. I might sign up for F1TV if he delivers a similar performance next round.

This! The fight for third thru fifth will likely be the highlight of the season.

Alonso's praise for Lance has total Machiavellian vibes about it.

He is using his "future World Champion" praise to cement his No 1. status in the team by saying "look how much I, a 41 year old driver is beating this future World Champion by", so who are you going to back?

The fake praise will also go over well with Laurence as pretty much every one up and down the pit lane and outside of it knows that Lance is only there because he is the owners son. Laurence can point to Alonso's praise and say "see, I told you Lance was good".

And then........expect that to all come crashing down when they give Lance the preferred strategy (which I thought at one point was what it looked like they were doing in this race), not take action when he takes out Alonso, and just generally be's Lance Stroll.

So an Alpine mechanic touched Ocon´s car 0.4 seconds too soon during his first penalty, and Ocon was speeding 0.1 KPH too fast. Small margins, but rules are rules.

Rules are rules, but Ocon was already dead and they kept kicking him, especially the penalty for the mechanica touching the car 4 tenths too early is ridiculous. If the FIA is so strict about this 5 sec time penalty, they need to put an official there with a stopwatch and not let the teams count to 5 themselves. They had to change a wing, so they lost even more time than they gained with those 4 tenths.

My hope for the season, a max Fernando title fight. See who gets that third title first.

Of course, having a specific official and a big, obvious clock is exactly how they used to do it :whistling:

I honestly can't remember when and why they changed this, but it was definitely gone by 1998.

And Mercedes (Mclaren) being hopeless until the last 3rd of the season

I know things won't change, but if anything, all we know so far is what these cars did in one single track. Different tracks might cause some reshuffling, even though it won't be anything huge.

and now our bonus stats from Bahrein

-his first one in Bahrein, also his first one in an opening round
-8th straight season with at least one win (equals Nelson Piquet)

-their first one on an opening round in the turbo hybrid era (last one 2011 Australian GP with Sebastian Vettel), also just the 2nd time Red Bull wins an opening round

.20th season with at least one start for Fernando Alonso (new record)
.99th podium finish for Fernando Alonso (4 podiums to equalize Raikkonen on Top5)

.2nd fastest lap for Zhou Guanyou

I said it already somewhere yesterday but very unlikely he wont surpass Senna this season.
Even passing Prost (51) and Vettel (53) is possible but he'd need to win 16 or 18 races total this season.

It's due to rising number of GPs per year but it's crazy to think that Max Verstappen has already overtaken Senna in GP starts.
