According to the rules, 50-75% race wasn't stopped by the red flag at the end of the timing.

So full points.

Sorry toto what does that mean?

If a race is stopped by the red flag before the end, then half points or 75% points are rewarded depending on the duration of the race.

This time the red flag didn't end the race... So full points it seems

Don't ask me why, that is so dumb.

So if they had restarted with 5 minutes to go, they could have given full points by finishing those ~2 laps?

According to that logic then... yes? Absolute lunacy

But isn't 75% based on number of laps run, not timing???

Apparently 75% isn't 75% when the red flag is in the middle rather than at the end. The FIA have outdone themselves

Means that if the race is red flagged early, but then finishes as a timed race even though 75% not completed it is still full points.

But if the race went ahead normally and THEN there was red flag before 75% then full points are NOT awarded.

So race stoppages are not equal. Just dumb.

They can't calculate at the FIA, no wonder there is confusion about the budget calculations. I don't believe a thing the FIA calculates

Just about sums up the rule makers.

This season could not end soon enough. After Imola its been up there with 2002.

Yea, like they followed the rules rather than making them up on the fly as suggested. It's just the rules are a tad stupid

Nascar is rubbing their hands waiting to pull one of those whenever one of their favorite drivers get in that position

It says a lot that the FIA are willing to change their regulations on the fly to cover their own backs but won't change their starting regulations ever to make sure we get more racing in wet conditions :whistling:

Spare a thought for Latifi. So much going on that no one has noticed he actually scored points.

Thanks guys for the explanations. It's ridiculous because this rule should be related to the effort made by drivers, not administrative consoderations. Either %of race distance, or of the two-hour max race time.

So if we had a 10-min time race would still be full points? lol

Yes, but the way they have communicated it sure does make them come across as on the fly. Even the teams had to scratch heads as to what it was about.

if an engineer uses a FIA calculator to make building it would make the Burj Khalifa like the leaning tower of Pisa

I's obvious when they changed the point rules after Spa last year, they totally forgot this scenario.

That's already happened - remember that yellow at Homestead for Austin Dillon :whistling:

All red flags are equal but some red flags are more equal than others.
