Bridge :8:
eventhough technically it's not really at Bridge.

I was there for this GP, on the start/finish straight, and we had no idea what had happened. The safety car just appeared for a few laps and then they carried on. I don't feel much nostalgia for the times when you either needed a portable radio or to hope you could hear the track commentary over the terrible PA system

Heh, I was at that race as well (Stowe). We could just about see a TV screen, but there was also a guy next to us who had a live stream of the race on his laptop. That seemed so technically advanced for 2004.

It wasn't always easy to get the information at the track. After watching the qualifying session in 2000, we had to ask around to see who actually had pole. You couldn't hear the commentary over the sound of those engines, and the positions were changing constantly because of the drying track.

Bridge was a flat out kink pretending to be a challenge to the modern F1 cars, there were literally only 2 things that happened there, Schumacher and Hill in 95 and Trulli flips in 2004

Rubens pass for the win in 2003, but I see how you forgot, British commentator was so emotionless, the Brazilian cast was epic.

The changes to the track have improved racing, I can agree on that, but it just makes the track seem so bland and generic. In my opinion the track was its best (1991-94) pre Abbey chicane, but with the improved Priory complex that came later.

A lot of people still say the 1949-1990 layout (including the various Woodcotes) was the best one, even though it was a little bit basic. I think it would be amazing for racing with modern cars, but at the same time the Maggots-Becketts-Chapel complex is probably one of the best in the world to watch F1 cars laugh at physics.

The bit where they're racing head on at each other while helicopters take off and land on the track would raise a few eyebrows now yeah

Latest weather models predict rain during the qualifying, but since we're probably talking about showers, it's up to the luck whether some cloud hits the track or not. So it's not like Montreal which was wet and gloomy the whole day.

I'm reading the grace period regarding jewelry ends this weekend. Who will hold its foot in place the longest. The FIA or Hamilton.

If both stick to their guns, Hamilton wouldnt be allowed to race. Could potentially be the most interesting battle this weekend.
On one hand they'd be crazy to not let the local (and global) star not run his home race. On the other hand, what better way to show dominance by not letting the local (and global) star run his home race.

The forecasts have been wrong all week, they predicted rain today and we had sun instead, yesterday sun and it rained during the morning. It's that kind of year where the weather can change on a sixpence.

They said the smooth surface would suit Mercedes’ better but Lewis was sparking there quite a lot already on his out lap

With the weather so unpredictable, hopefully they will decide they have no choice.

Never realized how many raindrops actually stayed on the visor during rain until they showed that helmet cam

It's chucking it down on the old pit straight but much less so at the other end.

I'm starting to think Pirelli might have actually, finally made good wet-weather tyres. They did pretty well in Canada last week on the proper ones and the inters seem to be coping surprisingly well in the heavier rain.
