So did the Miami GP organizers really think they were going to fool anyone with their marine? All I see now is people making fun of them.

Knowing how the world works these days, they probably thought they'd get more social media reach by people laughing at it and making memes about it with a superior attitude than they would if they did it well
Sort of like "Guys, there's no way we can make this look good, lets make it look really bad and get more attention that way"

Which is the real American dream atm tbf

I thought this was a pretty cynical take at the time, but turns out... you nailed it?

When we moved here [to the Hard Rock stadium] for a number of reasons, most importantly because we didn't think we could have a good racing circuit downtown, I told F1 that you're gonna get your yacht shots, you're gonna have your yachts.

so they got their marina and the F1 version of plate racing at the same spot

Fictional currencies like fiat lol?

Well, yeah. Hence the eventual gold investment.

The next crises are not going to be monetary/financial only, they will be physically grounded in energy and material scarcity. Gold won't be worth shit in that world. Invest in physical gear, valuable skills, stored food & water etc...

This all heads into eliminating physical money, even credit cards would be outdated if they aren't in certain financial areas already. That's the main goal of these banks & financial institutions. If you don't have physical money in your hand then you can be controlled from the outside. Easily controlled.

Yes, it will all come crashing down and we'll have another global financial crisis "nobody saw coming" and as usual immigrants, teachers & plumbers will be blamed for it. It's only a matter of time. It could happen in the late 2020s for sure.
I don't mean to keep the off topic going, but you are 100% right with this opinion! Everything is about control and controlling access to currency is a hell of an effective way of doing it.

This grafitti livery coming from Williams lands perfectly as a joke even though it wasn't their intention.

It's different and you'd certainly see the car. Shame it's only a display car.

Genuinely don't understand the misery and cynicism surrounding this GP. Feel like I'm in the minority for not condemning it yet

marina's still shit though

The more effort they have to do to hype it up, the more shit it usually is. But that's kinda the American way. Take something average, tell everyone how wow and amazing and best ever it is, and ignore the fact that people laugh in your face or roll with their eyes. They made a fool of themselves with that marina. Yes you got media attention, yes everyone talks about the Miami GP, but not in a positive way. They have done and will do a thousand times more of the same when we go to Las Vegas, they do the same with the sprint races. There seems to be more propaganda about this race than the average Russian newspaper writes about the war.
Furthermore, the US doesn't deserve a 2nd GP.

So just... ignore the PR? It's not aimed at the demographic this forum falls into anyway. I fail to see the problem with trying to get new eyes on the sport.

we'll have reasons to dislike this race if we got more than one red flag due to poor driving standarts

Track looks interesting, it's Saudi Arabia with less high-speed turns and more technical sections. Seems better than Valencia or Sochi for sure. I don't know if it's on purpose but it's good that F1 is keeping variety in street courses.

According to Autosport it has barely even been used, which might mean this is a bigger story than it looks.

I read a feature article somewhere, where they explained in some detail about using granite where it wouldn't normally be used due to durability worries...

well, you asked why to people on this forum you got an answer from someone on this forum. Based on social media comments, most have the same rather cynical and negative opinions.

with those news of upcoming bad weather and track issues we could see some good delays and even low points awarded

perhaps this is Liberty biggest fear, because if the race goes as planned then they'll profit big

Hamilton implies that he has a Prince Albert (and threatens to quit over it).

At least two of (the pieces of jewelry) – one I can’t really explain where it is – but it’s platinum, so it’s not magnetic.

He appears to be serious;

Why is the FIA getting all anal about it now any way? It's never been a problem before.

New President power trip?

I can understand they finally enforcing this in football together with chewing gum. All those years I played it they always told us no jewelry or gum but now you see the entire field kitted out and chewing the entire match.
One bad fall and they're choking on it.

I havent heard about drivers being injured by their piercings however.
