iks wrote: This isn't the first un-Miami track in Miami. There was also Tamiami Park which was inland a bit as well. But that was actually a decent track, narrower, and didn't have ridiculous tarmac runoffs. |

if you look in the distance you can see the taller buildings in the background that line the beach and waterfront areas. so realistically you could get to the beach in less than 20mins, which isn't too bad imo. this race was originally intended to be on the waterfront, but the property owners downtown were against it. the layout looks like it might be good for racing, but we'll see how it plays in the real |

Geez some people are quick to write off Miami without a lap being turned. Ok it's not a Spa or Long Beach or Singapore but it's more than fine for an American venue. |

3 teams apparently have asked the FIA to look into the Ferrari-Haas connection. The 3 should be among McLaren, Alpine, Aston Martin and Mercedes. Ironically, 3 of those 4 have (in)direct links to the pink Mercedes (AM, Mercedes and Alpine tru Otmar Szafnauer. |

Ahhh F1. It never changes. Had no problem with the Hass - Ferrari set up when they were slow as hell. Now they are taking points off them? Ban them, ban them, ban them. But we are different of course. |

Like Mercedes last year being hyprocrites as usual claiming that is good to have a fight, but only if they are 2 seconds ahead of everyone |

Stroll is rumored to be interested in selling the team to Audi. Hopefully that will also rid us of junior |

Asked this in the race thread, but it really belongs here: PdR is good, but where is Brundle this year? I usually use the F1 Live commentary but I'm not feeling the Buxton this year. Sent from my SM-G781U1 using Tapatalk |

Brundle does a maximum of 16 races and he has presumably chosen to skip Imola because of the sprint. |

next race will be right at Gilles 40th aniversary of his death. Hope Ferrari could make a tribute, specially because they'll be racing at one of their turfs |

Sent from my SM-G781U1 using Tapatalk You lost me at "PDR is good" but yeah, Martin is keeping to his old 18 race contract or whatever it was last time, and Sky are rotating most of their team so they at least have 1 race off every 3 races or so to prevent burnout in what is the longest season so far Though I'd have much rather had Martin piped in from his bathroom than Nico Rosberg's zero insight comments, since Nico couldn't be bothered to join them at the track |

Another question that I asked in the race thread that really should have been asked here, anybody know how much weight all this paint stripping is realistically saving, and how much time a lap this is gaining? Does seem a bit like they’re chasing their tails should they driver have one too many burgers at lunch. |

might have less to do with weight and more with air attrition generating dowforce. Perhaps they reached a level of development so high that they might be doing that on the paint |

Sound like they’re chasing their tails trying to convince themselves it’s working when it’s clearly not. |

Is it technically possible to put a dye into the carbon fiber when the strands are being made? I would have thought if it was technically possible then that would be the best way to establish the base colour. |

Ian-S wrote: Another question that I asked in the race thread that really should have been asked here, anybody know how much weight all this paint stripping is realistically saving, and how much time a lap this is gaining? Well a typical paint job on a car weighs 4-7kg, but there's a lot less surface area on a F1 car and they don't bother painting the floors. I'd say 2kg max, maybe 3 or 4 at a stretch. The old rule of thumb was 1kg = 1 tenth, but these cars are so much heavier than the previous generation. Long story short, would do fuck all. webbsy wrote: Is it technically possible to put a dye into the carbon fiber when the strands are being made? Luxury car makers use silver carbon fibre for interiors these days. |

Were Williams one of the teams who weren't much overweight? If they were close to the limit, taking the car even a little amount under would allow them to play with ballast positions. |

they could do like Lamborghini and play with the carbon fiber to look like marble stone |

Just an In Memoriam post. 21 years ago today, we lost Michele Alboreto in a high speed testing accident at EuroSpeedway Lausitz. |
