F1 "returns" to Las Vegas this week. Things have changed just a little bit.

Good find! I'm sure most (if not all) of this ended up on a VHS compilation in the late 90s or early 00s.

After 16 years I am watching this race again for the first time completely through. Of the 3 championships LH lost right at the death, this one hurts the most. 17 points up on Kimi with 2 races left.

weren't there more teams/drivers that almost ran into the back of the Willams that year? As in they seemed to brake much sooner and/or faster than expected?

Or was that just a lame excuse Dutch tv came up with to defend Jos?

Villeneuve had crashed into the back of Schumacher only two races earlier, so it wasn't just some wild rumour.
So in Imola, Williams put "keep your distance" on their rear wings :D

Barrichello ran into the back of Ralf in the same race. Look carefully where the wheel went :8:

Its been over 20 years so my recollections isnt perfect anymore.
And wouldnt be the first time a broadcaster twist facts to defend a countryman.

I remember more of the years 1996 to 2006, than of the last 5 years.

Going through 2001 and I've got to this charade. I am convinced that Walkinshaw and the Arrows management deliberately kept Coulthard behind to get TV money as they were broke.

Without this he would have got a podium as he made it to Lap 65 before pitting :8:

I have always been a big Coulthard fan. You could say him and Alesi were my F1 heroes growing up. But as frustrating as it was to watch, even during the race I never blamed Bernoldi because he had the right to defend his position.
I also remember that marshall that gave Bernoldi a blue flag every time they passed by. Incorrectly, ofcourse but nobody told him.
