Bahrain International Circuit f1.com wrote: The 2004 Grand Prix of Bahrain marked the first ever round of the FIA Formula One World Championship to be held in the Middle East and the official culmination of a multi-million dollar project started back in September 2002 when the Kingdom of Bahrain signed a long-term deal to host the event. Located at Sakhir, 30 km south-west of the island's capital, Manama, the Hermann Tilke designed circuit contains no less than five track layouts within one complex. Construction began in November 2002 and in the months prior to its March 2004 completion, work was going on around the clock. Over 12,000 tonnes of stone were used in the build, a third of it Welsh granite, chosen for the track surface due to its excellent adhesive qualities. The original 5.412 km Grand Prix circuit was designed with the spectator in mind, with 50,000 grandstand seats, all providing excellent views. Those spectators (a total of 100,000 over a race weekend) get to see the cars heading into the external desert area, before coming back into the oasis-styled infield. Up to 500 journalists can also witness the action from the venue's purpose-built media centre. A revised 'endurance' track layout was used for the 2010 event, with an additional complex starting at Turn Four extending the lap to 23 corners and 6.299 km, but the event has used the original track configuration ever since. It offers the driver a unique experience in the way the circuit's width varies at the end of the different straights. This allows for diverse racing lines, and the 15-corner design provides at least three genuine overtaking opportunities. I couldn't watch anything from Melbourne, but this weekend I will not miss a single exciting moment! And no, I won't have time to watch this weekend either. |

Some extra sand for Ferrari to put in their sandbags. |

Not the best location, but this track has put on good races in the past. Its one you can definitely overtake on. |

They have added a 3rd DRS zone on the straight between turns 3 & 4 which seems really unnecessary as even without DRS we have always seen a lot of good wheel to wheel racing down there & into/though T4. |

It it detected separately? IE will the person who gets the DRS on the start/finish straight get a 2nd boost between 3/4 or will the car that's been potentially overtaken get a chance at retaking the place? If it's the 2nd, it could be pretty cool Still, wish they'd put it on the straight into the final corner tbh. It's a pretty long straight yet no-one ever manages to overtake into the last corner, for whatever reason. |

The design of the corner isnt conducive to much passing |

They don't need DRS up there, you can pass without it. Heidfeld's pass on Alonso up there in 2007 is one of my personal favourites. |

Looks like the Ferrari sandbags are off Nice of them to know they're gonna be so dominant, 2004 style, that they could afford to throw the 1st race on half engine power before ramping it back to 100% for the rest of the season This post will obv be ridiculed by rain-predicting drunkards, because it's only acceptable to make wild generalisations about Mercedes boring us, not Ferrari, obv |

the only acceptable rain is the one from oil coming from the rear of the Mercedes |

Goddamn thunderstorms forecast for tomorrow, but I have no idea what time Bahrain is relative to UK time and also what time sessions are local time because it's a damn night race for European Audiences, so it'll probably just affect FP3 or F2 race 1 and not F1 qualy... |

Hoping for a Leclerc PP so Vettel starts on the dirty side of the grid and gets jumped by at least one Mercedes at the start. Then Ferrari TO could be out of the window. |
