Nice to see some feelings, all PR-training and political correctness aside. I think Ocon just have to deal with it, I'd smack the shit out of him. Yes I'm a caveman

I understand Max and im totally on his side. Ocon made a stop and got fresh tyres that are quicker by 2sec, but f... it youre a lap down then youre a lap down. Wait and pray for SC then you can pass. You cant re pass the leader (if he doesnt allow it and go aways and make a gap), but Max was not in cruise mode, he had only 2sec gap and there were still more than 20 laps to go. Even if he passed him without crash he would straight away get the blue flags. So his race was f... anyway. And then to race the leader like they are fighting in the same position. I mean seriously.

Wow, that's the dumbest thing I've read in this forum all year long I think.
How dare midfield teams race in a... race? Mind-boggling I know.

The only dumb thing that Ocon did (because it was a dumb move, let's be honest) was to carry it out on the one driver who has already proven that he'd rather ruin his race rather than lose one small battle in the grand scheme of the race.

About Verstappen, all I can say is that karma is a bitch. Now that he's shown that he thinks fighting is a good way to answer actions on the track, I hope he gets a broken nose the next time he nearly injures another driver on the track with his fucking late moves.

Ocon was what, 15th? 16th? If he was 10th or 11th, I could understand wanting to unlap yourself but his race was doomed from the start. I can see the situation from his perspective and the perspective that Max should've been smarter and given more room but at the end of the day, Ocon is at fault in this one. I kinda wish their tangle damaged both their cars more leaving them out of the race, which might have led to some on track brawling. That would've been awesome.

Why does any of that matter? Ocon was on fresher tyres and was much faster than Verstappen. Being leader gives you advantages but it doesn’t give you carte blanche. Ocon shouldn’t have been expected to hold station just because he was behind the leader, he’s got his own race and FI their own objectives.

But. Ocon should have been more thoughtful about when and where to execute the overtake. Around the outside of T1 against the leader who was defending was a tad unnecessary. That said, Verstappen entirely at fault for the contact at T2.

What, exactly, does the FIA define as "public service"?

What a pathetic penalty for a pathetic incident. If he wrestled him to the ground Paul Tracey style fair enough, but "public service" for that?? But meanwhile the FIA are apparently turning a blind to having someone killed on live TV by letting these defensive on track moves happen.

I maintain that KMags chop across on Leclerc in Japan was one of the most reprehensible pieces of driving I have seen in a long long time and he should have been given the boot for a few races if you ask me. But some playground pushing??? OH HELL NO.

Nelson Piquet would have been banned for life and had all his trophy's stripped off him if his failed karate kick happened today.

Oh and totally Max's fault with Ocon. The guy behind was 2 seconds a lap faster on new rubber, what was Max going to do, defend like he was racing him for the remainder of the race? Hamilton pretty much came out and said that Max was an idiot for it.

Verstappen chop blocking Kimi at Spa when he was on DRS was just as bad.

Last year. Kimi had very short Belgian GP this year.

So the message from FIA is that the only physical contacts allowed must be done on a race track and drivers must use their cars as weapons when doing over 300km/h on a straight. Idiots! :slaphead:

Hamilton's serve though...

So Max gets taken out of the lead by a lapper 17 years after his dad took Montoya out of the lead while being lapped. Talk about paying for the sins of your father.

Ocon had no excuse for that but I think perhaps Max shut the door on him a bit too aggressively. KNOWING he was being so defensive in Turn 1 to begin with, Max should have exercised a tad more caution whilst clearing him in Turn 2.

Unless Verstappen wins, then he will be voted driver of the day.

I got the Ricciardo part right, and only was an Ocon away of getting the Verstappen part as well :D

So, the day after. Looking at it, both are fucktards!

Ocon made a bonehead move which only justified him being out of a seat next year. Yes you can unlap yourself but not with a do-or-die attempt. These are moves you make in the last lap/corner when there are points, wins or titles on the line, not to unlap yourself.

Verstappen should stop being so damn proud and stubborn and just let him go by and wait for him to get blue flags and go by again. Hamilton can fuck off with his blessed but he is 100% right here.

But I do wonder what Ocon's train of thought was when going to Verstappen right after the race. Was it to provoke him and make him out to be the bad guy?
There is no justification in Verstappens reaction but the kid is still fuming. A good talk on Thursday would be much better as both would have cooled down a whole bit.

My 2 cents: Ocon should not have tried to make a pass there. You can do it when you are fighting for position, not when you are trying to unlap yourself. You don't go wheel to wheel in the corners when you are a lap behind. Ocon could have tried on the next straight, but never in that corner. It was a dumb move and 100% his fault.
Red Bull pitwall could have (or maybe has) warned Verstappen. Ocon is faster, let him go, don't lose time on it. If they didn't, there's no way Verstappen could have thought Ocon was trying to make a move there, at that corner, keeping his foot on and not bailing out of the pass.

About the incident after the race, anyone remembers Irvine and Senna in Japan 93? :p

I was so fucking happy when he said that.

Yeah, apparently we end the weekend with Wise Old Lewis. Completely spot on from him, and hopefully Max will remember.

Sure Ocon shouldn't be battling with the leader, but he was perfectly entitled to unlap himself and was clearly faster on the fresh tyres. He DRSed Max and Max went into Max Defence mode when he really had no reason to.

Stupid move by Ocon,he is a bit frustrated and he was no way near a points fight.
Also Max was I think unaware someone who was a lap down could fight wheel to wheel. In his position I would never consider that I need to take care in such a spot on a car who is way behind, a lap down and that I need to take care of that also. Max wasn't battling him / not lettling him go. He was I think surprised and was unaware.

I dont care, i would react as Max did, maybe threw a punch or two at Ocon. Cuz i would be mad as fuck at that moment. Cuz he prevented me from clear victory.
When im the leader and a stupid backmarker wants to unlap himself an takes me out. No not with me. Specially when the nearest rival is 2sec behind and there are 20 laps to go. So i cant allow to cruze around.
I would understand if he was fighting for P10, but he was P16. Points finish was already gone for him.
