2017 FORMULA 1 SINGAPORE AIRLINES SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX Marina Bay Street Circuit f1.com wrote: In 2008 Singapore had the honour of hosting the first night-time event in Formula One history. The inaugural Singapore Grand Prix proved a huge hit, staged on a new street circuit, with the city's famous skyline providing a truly spectacular backdrop. The race was announced in May 2007 following the agreement of a five-year deal between Formula One Management CEO Bernie Ecclestone, Singapore entrepreneur Mr Ong Beng Seng, and the Singapore Tourism Board. It instantly established itself as one of the most dramatic and atmospheric races on the calendar. The timing of the event also means it can be broadcast at a convenient time for European television audiences as well as thrilling local fans. Using public roads around the Marina Bay area, the circuit utilises powerful lighting systems to replicate daylight conditions and the most stringent safety protocols ensure driver and spectator safety. Grandstand seating and hospitality areas lining the track can accommodate more than 80,000 spectators, while a permanent pit area with deluxe paddock facilities is located adjacent to the Singapore Flyer complex. The event is more than just a motor race. "We envision it to be a national festival, and one that presents many opportunities for participation for everyone, both visitors and Singaporeans alike," said Singapore's Minister of State for Trade and Industry, Mr S Iswaran. Random trivia - Nico Hulkenberg is set to become the sole record-holder for most GP starts without a podium. Currently he and Adrian Sutil share this honor at 128 GPs each |

Accommodations would be a bitch though. I have a friend who works at the Fullerton hotel and always telling me about the monstrously high rates hotels charge every year. For anyone visiting the GP, what do they do for the Thursday driver autograph session? Is it a stampede in the pitlane like at European circuits? I went to it at Monza this year and it was horrendous. 4 hour line up and then a complete stampede in the pitlane. Still managed to snag Massa and Vettel's autograph but thought I'd have my arm ripped off or my spleen punctured by rabid Ferrari fans. Surely Singapore has a better system in place? |

180 degree rotating OnBoard camera is back. https://vid.me/CU12c Also seemed like Ferrari were testing the latest version of the Halo with a thinner central strut & more aerodynamic shape. |

Verstappen and Vettel have both tagged the same barrier, VSC to pick up the advertising board after Vettel knocked it down. |

This P2 is good stuff, much more enjoyable than Q and race. Great to chill and lots of mistakes. With the proper time to appreciate the replays. |
