Shit.

The new dawn will be celebrated by those stupid enough not to notice the sheer dearth of overtaking and the damage it'll do to the sport.

Nigel Roebuck was right

2/10

garbage aero, no tyre fall off, race decided in the pits - its 2010 all over again

2 (only because of that pass at the end)

We all knew there was a high chance of having very few overtakes.

Apart from that, quite a few retirements, 2 teams able to fight for the win. It seemed like an standard early 00's race. Back then, this race would've been a 6/10, easily.

I enjoyed it. Didn't fall sleep. The guy I wanted to win, won.

DRS was ineffective, but the straights here are not very long. Maybe in another track it can be more of a factor.

Maybe my main complain, it's the lack of tyre wear.

Anyway, I give it a 4/10.

8

My reasons
Really like the new cars
Their color schemes
3 tyres strategies
Ferrari up front
Not Mercedes
Its Melbourne
More dnfs
Ferrari fast again
Lots of new faces
Grosjean good run
Stroll chrging from the back
Had a blast with the mobile app, really enjoying track down the lap times and the tyre age minus fuel load.
And Massa nice run.
Overtaking is a challenge again, as it should be on F1. ^^

7 - no Mercedes win makes something a bit interesting, this is the new average

5. I enjoyed it. Would like it better if the tires degrade faster, tho.

You didn't watch the race, then.

Off line was full of rubber and LH only lost the race because of that as he was losing pace on his US and decided to pit earlier. That's why Bottas was faster than him on Softs too, as his was 8 laps newer

The degradation still is pronounced but just not daft as before.

Decent little race. Definitely much better than Melbourne 2015, the last F1 race I watched before this, where Rosberg was within 0.7s of Hamilton most of the race and couldn't pass.

Now overtaking is more rare and entertaining(Perez had a great dive on the outside of Sainz, for instance), the way it should be.

If anybody thinkgs the new rules are a disgrace, here's my tip for you: stop watching F1 ;)

1. The only excitement came from Vettel's pit stop pass of Hamilton and the brief battle between Alonso & Co. towards the end. Utter rubbish.

7/10.

Let me explain why. We were used to watch spectacular races in Australia every year and indeed, during several years in a row we only had amazing races in Australia, specially If we go back to the editions in 90's and early 2000's. BUT....given the fact F1 has changed so much, my expectations decreased so....

As I didn't have any higher expectations, even with the new regulations, I thought that was a great racing. It could've been a lot better indeed but to see the new cars in action and some few overtakes, it was enough to rate 7.

We really cannot complain, have you ever thought we could have a race with 0 overtakes? I'm not overreacting, that's a constant risk we have for some 5 or 6 years already. So, at least, there were some overtakes.

Do not complain because If you do, it's gonna be worst in China! remember that.

It wasn't the worst race ever, but it's not one i'd watch again in years to come. It's been some time now since we've had a good season opener/a good Australian GP.

4, not exactly the worst race ever. I've seen plenty of utterly dreadful races.

I give it a 5. Pretty mediocre. Nice to see someone other than Mercedes win.

Post subject:  Re: Rate the 2017 Australian GP

Lets give it 5/10
I have to get used to the 2008 style racing, there were some passes in the race.
But they were not im just gonna push the button and ill fly past like in the past years.
It was more like now or never, like that pass of force india driver on torro rosso in turn 3 was great.

But i see its diffuicult for the cars to follow.
But at least Merc didnt make 30sec in 10laps gap, Vettel was in his mirrors all the time. So thats good for the sport and F1. That finally someone cuts their wings off fair and square.

6/10, but that's probably only because it was the season opener. The amount of overtaking was dreadful.
