Keeping it as a B team sounds possible, but probably a merger meaning we'll lose another team.

I can't imagine the legendary Williams team to disappear from F1. I have always wondered how championship winning teams like Tyrrell, Brabham or Lotus could turn into backmarker teams who were happy if they could score a point. Now I see it happen with even more iconic teams as McLaren and Williams. It's part of the sport I suppose, but it's sad to witness.

well Brabham faded because Bernie wanted to rule the sport and sold the team to shady charachters who eventually liquidated the team. Lotus was quite the same story, Colin passed away, the team (and the brand) was being sold constantly, they just didn't had guys like Gordon Murray or John Barnard to make good cars and eventually died. Tyrrell is quite a different thing, as Ken owned it like Enzo did at Ferrari, but didn't had resources and was being left behind at the turn of the 80's, then lack of sponsors eventually brought into an end

What I called "farce" in F1, besides those ridiculous stewards interference and decisions, is finally getting addressed. Making talent and knowledge, not only just money and sitting over your recent success, worthy again. And that goes beyond the budget cap, but the extra time on the wind tunnel is a genius way of leveling the playing field without artificial mesures like extra weight.

Interestingly Williams dropped Rokit out of their Facebook page yesterday. Without any formal announcement. :o

Edit: never mind, they announced ending the partnership.

If the next set of engine regs feature cars powered exclusively by bullshit, then Williams would be quids in with R.E

Since they don't, keep well away! :whistling:

Useless trivia

Been 25 years to the day since we had a grid of 26 cars start a race. Monaco ‘95, Simtek bailed on F1 after that.

If F1 survives it is going to be a looonnnggg time before we ever get back to that number.

Well Silverstone definitely won't happen now.

Because of the enforced 14 day quarantaine for foreign arrivals?

I see F1 trying to get an exemption.

And this is now confirmed as expected.

Williams is desperate for money. Not mentally retarded to a level that would make trump look like a proper stable genius.

So apparently, FOM introduced a potential reverse grid format and everyone was happy with it..except Mercedes.

In this case I agree with Mercedes. This year has been a compete shit show, so why not fuck it up some more.

They're just too scared that there's the potential that someone other than themselves might win.

It's not very sporting of them.

No shit Sherlock!
I bet Williams or Alpha Tauri are big fans. Ofcourse Mercedes is against it. The problem is that they can vote, as they need all teams to agree. Ofcourse they are not going to vote for something that hurts them. It's like politicians having to vote for a law that reduces their own salary.

F1 needs some independent neutral organ that can decide, or get rid of the need for unanimity.

This season is the best ever to try and test new formats. Otherwise they will have to come up with it in the winter, and have it as a rule already at the first race. Remember the great pole position shoot out of a couple of years ago?

Reverse championship order is very fair to set a grid, no more qualifying, just reverse grids for the GP on Sunday. You can play this in F1 2018 (I don't have 2019) but only in a short 5 laps race championship, it keeps the championship close until the last race. BUT they would have to give points for every finishing position to not have people retire on purpose, but since it's reverse championship grids it would only be a problem for race 1 of the season with people retiring on purpose to have pole for race 2. Just make Saturday a practice day, give a point for the fastest man that day. The race on Sunday in reverse championship order. Grid for the first race of the season is set from practice times on Saturday.
