Thanks for the detail, it wasn't showing up on my timeline. This one is...

My word Storey is insufferable. A perfect fit for Gene Haas' team though.

The more I think about it, the more I think racing point are glad to have any kind of name sponsor to take the heat off the fact it's entirely bankrolled by stroll.

He's probably happy enough to sit in the background while rich energy get all the pr, so lance's performances arent always brought back to the fact he's funding the team outright.

Is Rich Energy run by that Khan fella that's doing a great job as London Mayor?

Cos they seem to be channelling him quiet well.

Ok I think I figured out Storey's gameplan. Had a moment of clarity this morning. Its actually fairly obvious!

1: He gotten the money together to at least pay the first or first 2 installments to sponsor Haas F1.

2: Knowingly used Whyte's logo to cause problems (he needs this to complete is gameplan)

3: Acts like a complete tool (see various tweets over the last few days alone)

4: Haas drops the contract (surely there is a clause in there that says RE cannot do anything that might harm Haas, point 3 is doing that however. Storey isnt smart enough to be aware of it)

5: Sue Haas for loss of income and reputation damage for hundreds of millions (the Energy drink sector is a multi billion industry).

Its a clear "get rich quick" scheme. Its not thought out very well however. As I wrote earlier, its very likely the contract with Haas will have clauses in it that RE cannot act in any way that will cause harm to Haas' reputation.
Slowly Haas will have a big enough folder to convince the judge they made the right call and the judge will throw out RE's claim. Shortly after the brand will disappear and Storey will be working on his next "get rich quick" scheme.

I still don't know how he got the money for the sponsorship

I believe, and don't quote me on this, it is family money. In effect he is a rich trust fund kid with too much time and money on his hands and instead of employing a decent barber he spent it elsewhere.

Spending it on creating the world's largest can collection? Is he going for a Guinness World Record or something?

Does anybody know if he is a descendant of the "Storey Empire" of Lancashire? I think they are like the McNally's (kals will know who I'm talking about), i.e. Paddy is the second biggest property owner in London (or was), but to look at him you'd think he should be working in the back office of DHL - Paddy started the Formula One Paddock Club.

Today's been a good day for them. They start by picking a fight with Chris Harris over something he wrote on Twitter and it has ended with Plato of all people calling them out on their shit.

It's only gotta be a matter of time before Haas ditches it and gets lawyers involved. It is really damaging their image.

You mean the Twitter meltdown over the past 2 days?

Fuck knows. The most popular theory on Atlas is the same as @

micha
(who I believe reposted it there) - that they are coming due for a payment and they can't afford it so are trying to get Haas to break the contract and incur any penalties that may arise without incurring any themselves.

The second part of the court case (determining RE's right of appeal and the damages that Whyte are awarded) is at the end of the month - maybe Storey is aware that the game is up and it's going to get quite painful for him without any knock-on effects involving Haas and others, so he's trying to cut ties with them now.

Or maybe he got his bell rung one too many times in his boxing career and the CTE is starting to affect his cognitive functions.

Oh..right. OK, 1 paragraph. Er...

About a year ago a man with a stupidly long beard called William Storey appeared around F1. He owned what he claimed was a luxury energy drink brand called Rich Energy and tried to buy FIF1. After that failed, he hung around and talked to Williams and Haas about sponsorship. He signed with Haas. Meanwhile, a lot of internet digging has taken place into the background of both Storey and his company and it turned out he's full of shit. Everything about the company either doesn't exist or has been Photoshopped or simply stolen. He lost a court case last month against the company he stole the logo from and was explicitly accused of perjury by the judge. The only bit that seems to be legitimate is the sponsorship - he has paid Haas what he promised, so far at least. But everything else stinks.
