Tyres that can't maintain performance over 1 lap & fall to pieces in only 5-6 laps with a 4-5 second performance loss is too much in my view.

this seems like the first weekend in which Autosport's theory for qualifying might materialise: drivers deliberately missing out on Q3 in order to have a fresh set of tyres available for the start. Although starting in the middle of the pack, they would find themselves in a better position than the top 10 which have already worn their tyres in their Q3 effort.

I like this.

If this theory proves to be correct, I can see drivers gunning for Q3 but not driving in that session. Which would be less to my liking.

History has shown me that you tend to do better if you just go for it, rather than arsing around trying to foolishly predict what might happen.

That would be the most ridiculous qualifying session since the 2003 Silverstone two-hour qualy.

Followed closely by the early 2ks debacle with 40mins of nothingness waiting on the track to heat and backmarkers to sweep it up.

I do believe, given the tyre allocation, there is a strong possibility of this happening.

Gillieston is near Shepparton isn't it? Know how big Shepparton is, that's about it. I'm from Yea, town which has a population of 1500. 1500 people could occupy one of those buildings in the background!

I know this is OT but fuck it, I don't care. How is working in China? A trucking company in China have offered me a career there in the future, but it doesn't seem like a place I'd want to build a career.

Working here is like anywhere else...it is what you make of it. I worked as an English teacher in Shanghai and was surrounded by other ex pats. People can diss being an English teacher over seas all they like, but the experiences and friends you make are priceless. I can't recommend foreign language teaching for anyone strongly enough.

As for working in a trucking company....I assume you don't mean actually driving here? But a management role right? Cause I drive over here and the number of old shitty smoke belching trucks is almost as crazy as their shitty driving.
If you work over here as the token foreigner in a company and not have any other foreign contact, then you might have a lonely time. But if you are surrounded by other foreigners in the same boat and they are a good crew, then you will love it. Also if they pay you foreigner rates and they would, you will make a very very handsome amount of money providing you don't blow it on beer and women....or what ever else floats your boat...for a communist country you wouldn't believe the shit that goes on here, or what you can get.
As for the pollution n stuff...you actually get used to it and it's not such a big deal after a while.

I wouldn't dismiss it completely. And yes the entire population of Shepparton could fit in my apartment block!

I believe you are talking about the post about Perez, right? Perez crashed into the tyre barrier of the pit entry, the same place Lewis got stucked in the gravel in 2007 race.

Obrigado ! :)

If you are in Shanghai Scotty then yes there are alot of expats and lots of mischief to get up to...Its worth doing just for the experience. Plus judging by todays action, you could go the track and be the only person there...good vantage points for photos!

One of our cities has 3,440 people, another 1,600. Strange how meaningless a pop is towards status.

Please. I come from 50km north of the Arctic Circle from a municipality that has roughly 4000 people - on a 60km radius. The most remote village of the area only got the electricity in the 70s. Mobile phone doesn't work everywhere, there's no 4G at all and 3G only works on some areas. This is in the middle of nowhere (that's actually the tourism slogan). During the winter tourism season the population doubles up. Still the closes cities Kuusamo and Rovaniemi are over 100km away.

That's a population density of roughly 0.3 people per km² (0.8 people/sq mi).
The part of Paris I was born in has a population density of 32000 people per km² (80k/sq mi). Whoops!

We also have no 4G! (nothing to be proud of, though)
