In other news, the Ring could lose its race if Mosley and his cronies strips the DMSB/ADAC of its position as Germany's sporting authority

If that happens surely that will be the most consistent grid between two seasons with only potentially 2 seats changing.

Surely Trulli is confirmed?
Looks like nowhere to go for Nando

Well, if BMW were able to bend to Kubica's request of a one-year contract...maybe they can do the same for Alonso.

If Heidfeld is left in the cold, Autosport reports that STR may be interested in him as an experienced driver in place of Bourdais.

STR would be dumb to replace Bourdais, especially with Heidfeld.

As James has pointed out, STR've already got Sato lined up as a candidate.

What they want is one experienced driver (Bourdais, Heidfeld, Sato, Davidson) and one rookie (Buemi, Senna). Both Heidfeld and Sato, Taku in particular, have a history of taking back of the field teams and moving them above where they should be. Also add in the fact that Sato is PR gold for Red Bull in Japan, and...well, Bourdais should start watching his back.

Renault would probably go with Di Grassi if they couldn't tie Alonso down. Or maybe even everyone's favourite Dutch driver Bobby D., who did test with the team earlier on in the year. Or Sato. Who knows?

Alonso will most likely stay at Renault. He's contracted. However, it's possible that he could go to BMW and replace Heidfeld, who could go to Toro Rosso as has been rumoured, which I guess would leave the door open for Sato or even Bourdais (he's French, isn't he?) at Renault. Or if Alonso goes to Honda, Button could return to his old team

But I don't see the point of Alonso joining another team if he wants the Ferrari drive in 2010. Doesn't exactly send out a good message. Kubica wants the drive as well (although his constant whinging about BMW's lack of pace isn't doing him any favours either)

A short interview with Di Montezemolo at Monza:
Quote:
Di Montezemolo on whether Raikkonen and Massa will stay at Ferrari next year: "Absolutely yes."

So Alonso, of whom many have said he has long signed a contract with Ferrari for the coming years, can be calm ?
"I don't know if the poor guy can stay calm, at the moment it depends on him. I didn't like to see a big champion like him not being within the top ten at Valencia. But as far as Ferrari is concerned he can be calm."

So at least for the near future the doors at Maranello are closed for the Spaniard. Di Montezemolo went to see him and greeted him warmly. After that the Ferrari president went to McLaren's pitbox and embraced Hamilton.

On Raikkonen: "All this criticism towards Raikkonen reminds me of when Inzaghi played for Juventus. When he didn't score for three games everyone said he was in a crisis."
When Di Montezemolo was watching a pitstop a fan shouted: "Give him (Raikkonen) a good telling-off !"

"I thought: 'these guys are never happy'. One shouldn't forget he's the worldchampion, and that last year he has won in his first year at Ferrari and many would have never imagined this. In his career he has now won 17 races and I hope he will 'unblock' at the Belgian GP: in any case he's not a driver that's in a crisis. Kimi is motivated and we have to work to enable him to move forward, especially at these new circuits that I don't like and which harm Formula 1: you're not able to overtake there and nine times out of ten the guy on pole wins the race."

Raikkonen said he didn't have difficulties at managing the pressure during the last six GP: "I don't have any problem."

On the talk with Di Montezemolo: "He didn't say anything special to me."

On Di Montezemolo confirming his(Kimi) stay at Ferrari: "I already had a contract (so) there's nothing new for me. Today's test has gone as normal, we've tested various solutions to some small problems. In the coming races we will give our utmost to win and then we'll see where we end up."

Di Montezemolo on Massa:
"I would define him as a 'product' from (our) 'breeding ground' and he's mature to win the title. If it wasn't for the points he's lost he would have already had a considerable gap. But for eleven years we've either won the championship or came second, and considering the many teams that have come to life or have gone bankrupt in these years, that's a nice satisfaction."

On the championship being decided in the same way as it happened last year: "Enough with the nonsense, I'm convined Ferrari will be a protagonist right till the end."

On there not being a number 1 and number 2 status within the team: "It's an old story that goes back to the times of Lauda and Regazzoni. The hierarchy is only made by the stopwatch, not by the president. Who ever is the driver, whether he's called Schumacher, Barrichello, Raikkonen or Massa, what he does is drive for Ferrari."

As much as Bourdais hasn't been spectacular this year, I think now that he's had that one year under his belt and the new regulations perhaps suiting him better, it would be better if STR listen to what Bourdais wants.

It would be interesting if STR choose a non-Red Bull affiliated driver though.

As rumoured over the past couple of weeks, Takuma Sato will test with Scuderia Toro Rosso with a view to joining the team as replacement for Sebastian Vettel next season.
