7 - had some good parts but lacked the action from a premier race

BTW races at monza should had at least 70 laps, so it could have more racing aswell

Vettel - had some problems during the race, stayed on the track all the time with soft tires to change it only in the final lap and get a great finish

Alonso and Button also showed performance today

Button - Out-performed the car to an extent, did well to keep Alonso behind for so long, and importantly its brought him back into play for the championship

Vettel's problem was that one of the brakes locked coming out of Ascari

Bodes well for Singapore...

I gave it a 5. Nothing really exciting up front, except on the pit stop, but the mid-pack racing was okay.

Can anyone explain why Mclaren pitted Button first? Last laps prior to a pit stop are usually quicker than the first lap out of the pits, so Button was always more likely to lose the lead by pitting first.

Whitmarsh justifed it by saying Kubica was quicker on new tyres. I don't see how that mattered, all that was important was trying to keep Button in front of Alonso as Alonso had the faster car, Button had the best chance of maintaining track position by pitting as soon as possible after Alonso pitted. Would have been fair enough if there was a risk of cars further back jumping Button if he stayed out too long but there was no risk of that.

Just finished watching the race. (Always have to record it as it is on at 4:30 am local time) Was anyone else annoyed by the slower cars constantly cutting the chicanes to get way out of the way? I know you should try and get out of the way when the leaders are coming and that it is a safety issue on higher speed sections of a track, but traffic, and dealing with traffic is part of racing. When those slower cars move off the race track in the slowest corners it takes a lot of drama out of the equation. If a driver is held up because he catches a backmarker at the wrong time, it gives the guy behind a chance to get a run coming out of the slower section to make a pass. If you are in the race, you should have to stay on the racetrack itself, not the paved run off areas, which are there for safety in case you lose control, not because you are too slow.

I totally agree with you
McLaren should have tried to pit Button on the same lap or the lap after Alonso

it was clear the Ferrari had a lot of speed-potential, even on older tires

Well that 0.8s easily won him the race then. Sure, he was quicker afterwards but thats all theory, eh?

Yeaa but when in front Button had just enough to keep him behind. McLaren need to go back and work on their pitstops, because it almost certainly cost them the win.

Last night I hade a big party, I left home at 08.00 pm and I was back at 09.00 in the morning and I managed to stay awake during the race. I thought it was interesting, gave it a 7.
