Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Someone got hold of FOM channel testing and recorded this!

Thanks! First time I see an onboard from testing. As far as I know, this is the first time they ever featured a camera for such session. The uploader says he captured from a Latin American channel

Dowload as fast as you can cause videos like this can always get deleted as happened with codename's link on the other page where the guy even had his account deleted

I read this free sample of the Ben Anderson article and it seems the cars are not impressive, cornering-wise, as Anderson was expecting, at least. Can't tell if that's really what he's saying(as I don't have membership on autosport) but that will be underwhelming, if true.

Yeah.

Apparently FOM was testing cameras today and some channel picked up the feed.

Williams are saying that Stroll's crash today was caused by a quirk of the new tyres that Massa was also complaining about on Monday.

http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2017/03/01/w ... -tomorrow/
Quote:
“Both drivers have talked a lot about these tyres,” Smedley explained, “they’re good to lean on them, but there’s a certain point where they become very tricky.”

“Felipe lost the car on his first day because he kind of just stepped away from them having the amount of grip that these new tyres offer and then going into some area of the tyre where they’re no longer very happy. It’s just something they’re adapting to, Felipe found it quite tricky on day one. I’ve heard reports from other teams that drivers are pretty much reporting the same thing.”

“The feedback on today is Lance was out on cold medium tyres on an out lap, a lot of fuel in the car, and the tyre stepped away from him and he was an innocent victim of that happening.

They did have an official onboard camera during testing last year on Vettel's car when he was trying out the halo.
Also, you can clearly see on the mirrors on the Mercedes holes for "mirror cams" - lets hope Liberty Media reintroduce variety to onboard angles again like the 90's!

McLaren 2017 surely can't be worse than Honda 2007/2008 - hopefully they (Honda) sort themselves out

Lets not forget that Honda were an abject failure on their last entry in F1 from 2000-2008. Heavy, slow unreliable engine....theme much?

Don't forget, if anything, Honda won the world championship in 2009. Think Ross Brawn did a complete reset and started fresh when he turned up? Of course not. Think that Mercedes engine turned them from back-markers to dominant world champs? Of course not. Honda jumped off the sinking ship just before the ship fixed itself.

The fact Honda gave up just as they were developing a car that leapfrogged the field is a bit revealing as well though, it suggests they literally don't know shit from Shinola.

When Brawn came onboard he discovered an engine team and a chassis team which weren't co-operating and were blaming each other for the failings of the car. It was very disfunctional and Brawn was turning that around when Honda pulled the plug. I'll find the recent article where he explains this and post it soon.

But it was for a good cause. They raised the awareness that we all live on this planet. And for the team itself it was a shocking discovery. That's why they pulled the plug.

A shocking discovery we all live on the same planet?

Now that does explain a lot about Honda management....

They will dampen the track again, despite Pirelli's first tweet.

Um

Quote:
09:31 No sign of Mercedes yet. Last night Lewis Hamilton said he wasn't particularly looking forward to taking the morning running in the W08: "I heard it’s wet tomorrow, something like that, not particularly looking forward to that. I drove some demonstration wet tyres at Silverstone and they didn’t feel great. And I’m out first unfortunately – I might fake a pulled muscle in the morning and let Valtteri do it!"

Yeah

Quote:
12:13 No action for Hamilton today: "Electrical fault kept us in the garage this morning, so I've decided with the team not to drive today as I wouldn't have learned much. Shame not to drive but it's been a great few days. The guys have done an awesome job. Can't wait to be back in the car next week."

Any advances on this 'electrical fault' being cured magically in time for Bottas this afternoon?

IT'S A MIRACLE!

Quote:
12:47 The Mercedes has appeared for the first time today - with Bottas getting an early start after it was decided Hamilton wouldn't complete any running this morning.

Would a wet test not have made more sense at Paul Ricard where they have a dedicated sprinkler system for wetting the track.

I'm pretty sure this was on the table, as was a hot test in Bahrain, but the teams didn't want the extra expense and only wanted to test at Barcelona.

It's pretty clear they also don't want to do it today, judging by the lack of action, but will no doubt still complain that they can't get the wets working the second it rains during the season.
