Remember when Marlboro McLaren was fighting Marlboro Ferrari on a track that had grass, gravel and Marlboro billboards because it was a Grand Prix that was title sponsored by Marlboro? Good times.

Remember.....local host broadcasters, the hazy NTSC pictures from Japan + N & S. American races, the varying quality of coverage from said broadcasters, Italian tv focussed solely on Ferrari, Japan on any Japanese back markers etc

Not old enough to remember it first-hand, but Murray Walker sounding like he is commentating over the phone at certain GPs.

Many other TV channels did sound like that actually, especially for overseas GPs. Maybe they used a phone line for this kind of commentary, they'd send a guy over there and have a back-up guy at the office to fill in just in case something happens.

Definitely remember that, especially when the race was outside Europe. The only reason it stopped here was because they weren't able to afford having an on-site commentator anymore. These days it's all done in the local studio.

I remember when Suzuka and Melbourne were at midnight here. It was a great time to what racing...for some reason I loved that. Now they're too late for us on this side of the pond, me thinks.
