You can't really compare the times. Different time of day, different set-up etc.

Don't sprain your ankles falling off it when he proves to be another mediocre post-GP2 driver.

Yay Belgian bashing once again because 2 people have been impressed with him.

Don't be so lame.

to make things clear, I only used those stats because everyone was saying how impressive Ricciardo was
d'Ambrosio is not the new Vettel/Alonso/Hamilton, but he could be a new Sutil/Heidfeld/Fisichella/... with some luck

I've long worried that Webber's retirement will signal another big lull without Aussie F1 involvement - hopefully Daniel Ricciardo means that will not be the case - he certainly has performed well in the car so far :flag:

You've kinda not argued your point. You've looked at the less good drivers supposedly that have gone on to do better than the junior formulae stars...

3 seasons of below average results in GP2, and the only championship he's won, is the IFM series, where of the top 15 drivers in the season he won it, I've only heard of 2 others. His only claim to fame is that he beat Kobayashi in GP2, but does that really matter? Hulkenberg smashed Maldonado in GP2, but looks who's about to replace him at Williams. Di Resta beat Vettel in Euro F3 a few years ago, look who just won the championship.

So he hasn't got much going for him, I don't even expect him to be signed for an F1 team, unless he pays his way in to HRT or Virgin, unless he does another (his 4th) season of GP2, and wins the series.

He can't help it that DAMS can't built a decent car. He was on his way to a fantastic win in Spa for example when once again his car failed him.

because DAMS would get more money if Kobayashi won that title
he finished runner up in the Asia Series that season
in the main GP2 series he always crushed Kobayashi

ok, let us assume that Kamui just was better in the Asia series for some other reason
what do you think is the most important? a handful of races in the dessert or a whole season with a better competition on GP tracks in Europe? You can barely say Asia series is a prestigious championship
... I mean, even Herck did well in the Asia Series

If DAMS is so bad team why did he not change to other team then? I don't think there is a big difference between teams in general. The team Maldonado drove this year was midfield team last year.

I really like Belgium and Belgians and it would be nice to see a F1 driver from there but D'Ambrosio simply isn't F1 material. GP2 is a farce, that's why he "crushed" Kobayashi. I very much doubt that Hulkenberg would beat Maldonado in really equal conditions. Driving for the same team doesn't necessarily means the same perfomance for the car in GP2.

DAMS and Renault are linked up
he also didn't have enough money for a high-end team
DAMS is crap, just check their failure-rate and you can see what I'm talking about :p

Maybe because the cars are different. DAMS sucks in GP2 main, and they are the best in GP2 Asia. The experience from there Asia season clearly didn't helped them on the other car because they are completely different.

Kobayashi got a very specific driving style, and apparently the old GP2 car suits him better. Already in his first GP2 Asia season he snatched up some wins, so that does say he likes that car.
