both Campos and USGPE official requested a spot for next year, good to hear, F1 needs some new teams
it will also give young drivers more chances, that's what I like the most about the new teams

Could this perhaps cause a problem, in that people have already signed up to the regulations for next season, making it perhaps impossible or not possible without litigation regarding changing next seasons regulations.

USGP already said they would enter no matter if there is a budgetcap or not.

Aston Martin set to enter in 2010
29 May 2009

The British Aston Martin brand is suspected to be making a return to Formula One in 2010 for the first time in forty years. The legendary sports car marque, which would be run by David Richards' Prodrive group, is believed to have come to an agreement with F1 commercial rights holder Bernie Ecclestone as the FIA waits to receive entries to next year's world championship.

With Friday being the deadline for entries to the 2010 World Championship, reports suggest that Richards' apparent deal with FOM's Ecclestone practically seals an entry for next year, with the full line-up set to be announced by governing body the FIA on 12 June. Having withdrawn a 2008 entry amid the customer car row, this would be the first time the Prodrive name has been involved in Formula One as Aston Martin looks to add to its six races between 1959 and 1960, from which Roy Salvadori scored two sixth positions.

Prodrive has already enjoyed a host of motorsport successes including Colin McRae's 1995 World Rally Championship title for Subaru and GT1 class victories at Le Mans with a Ferrari in 2003 and Aston Martin entries for the last two years. The British Touring Car Championship has also seen a selection of Prodrive-run vehicles, not least the Hondas of, notably, James Thompson in the late nineties. Titles for Frank Sytner's BMW M3 in 1988, Gabriele Tarquini's Alfa Romeo 155 in 1994 and Alain Menu's Ford Mondeo in 2000 were all clinched in cars run by the Banbury-based outfit.

The team, expected to link up technically with McLaren Mercedes, will initially enter the world championship as Prodrive, before becoming Aston Martin by 2012.

And Lola confirms its entry...

Autosport wrote:
Lola has confirmed it has submitted its entry to the FIA for next year's Formula 1 world championship.

The Huntingdon-based company had already expressed its interest in returning to grand prix racing last month, after the FIA announced plans to introduce a budget cap system in F1.

On Friday, the last day to lodge entries for 2010, Lola confirmed it had submitted its entry.

The company said it would not many any further comments until the results of the entry submissions are made public on 12th June.

Lola last appeared in F1 in 1997.

So at 15:00 European time the confirmed teams are:
-Williams
-Campos Meta 1
-USGPE
-Prodrive - Aston Martin
-Lola

current teams can be in anyway if they sign up time
but what if all current teams sign up and 5 new teams sign up? there is only place for 3 new teams

I wonder how they are going to choose

On who the FIA believe will bring the most to F1. Say something like the Aston Martin name for instance.

well, if you look at the contenders

Lola
Litespeed
Campos Meta
Prodrive
USF1

They will probably take into account many things such as budget and staff and whether they think they can do well: I think its most likely Lola, Prodrive and USF1

Seems that FOTA teams may have submitted illegal & therfore invalid entry's:
http://www.pitpass.com/fes_php/pitpass_ ... t_id=38040

Quote:
In summary, either:

1. The FOTA teams have modified the entry form to include their
conditions. If this is the case their entry is invalid since the form is
written into the Sporting Regulations and so changes to it need to be
approved by the FIA.

2. The FOTA teams have signed the entry form without making any changes
to it but have written their conditions on another document which was
also sent to the FIA with the form. If this is the case then their entry
binds them to enter the 2010 Championship under the FIA's proposed
Regulations (including the budget cap).

3. The FOTA teams have sent their conditions to the FIA on a document
but have not yet signed the entry form. If this is the case then they
have missed the deadline to enter the 2010 Championship.

Quote:
"The consequences of all this will become clear on June 12, when the FIA is scheduled to publish the 2010 Formula One World Championship entry list."

According to our source, at that time; "F1 will experience the biggest single shock in its entire history".
