7.5

Much better than most seasons recently, some great races, many different winners, some great on track battles for a change. But, still too much politick and petty penalties detracting from ontrack action instead of accepting that mistakes in racing each other do ocasionaly happen instead of penalising every mistake. To me the title contenders made too many mistakes to be true greats yet, but when these are ironed out then I rate both of them as greats to come. And with Raikkonen, Alonso and Kubica also in the mix should mean its just the beginning of more classic seasons to come.

I voted 8, voting 10 would be like there wouldn't be another season as good as this one, which i think it's possible. Probably not the last couple of corners of the last lap of the last race, but still.

8.
It was exciting, but this were the most bad contenders we EVER had in formula one. The only driver from the field who deserves the title is Vettel. Hamilton and Masse are comedians against Senna, Prost, Schumacher and Clarke. It's nearly a shame one of them got the same title as the mentioned ones.
But really, really entertaining. 8.

8 - best season since the end of Ferrari domination and Schumacher's Era

Terrific season, best I can ever remember watching - 9/10.

It really was a fantastic season. 10 of the 18 races where rated higher than a 7, here on this forum. We had a huge amount of epic races. Sometimes the weather helped, or maybe the safety car but who gives a shit!? The title contenders made quite some errors, maybe too much, but this also kept the championship exciting. And than the last race, it went 'down to the wire' that was allready good. But than the end  Amazing!

I think the best season I ever saw!(1998 till now) I coudn't wish for anything more!

10!

He's taking into account the champion.

When 2007 Brazilian GP finished I thought the very same about this season.

Yeah but history suggests big rule changes = 1 team dominating

Depends. The cars changed dramatically from 1982 to 1983 and there were 3 title contenders of 3 different teams there.

It may be an exception, certainly. But also, it depends a lot on who will do better with the new rules. I don't think BMW can dominate a season. However, they seem to be, a little ahead of the others on what concerns the new rules.

I think it'll come down to KERS and how much it benefits. Ferrari may not run with it, and Toyota won't be until half way through the year, but BMW are very confident, as are McLaren and Honda. The weight of the KERS may actually benefit those teams who don't run with it. It's a big gamble, and the team that makes the right choice, combined with nailing the new aero rules and having drivers that adapt well, may have a big advantage next year

Depends what we call big rule changes. Since 1980s I would rate 1983, 1989, 1994, 1998, 2005 and now 2009 big ones.

1983 was a mixed bag, because it was generally a transition period from the DFV to the turbos

1988/1989 was a gradual rule change and saw McLaren dominate

1994 saw Benetton (albeit just Michael) dominate, although that may have been down to the illegal TC

1998 saw McLaren dominate, only for Michael to hang on in there

2005 saw Renault dominate at first before McLaren came along and dominated

I'd love to see BMW do well next year and Heidfeld to finally win, although I know a few people who wouldn't be happy with that. Renault would be good too, and I think this is somewhere Alonso can really benefit with his development skills. I think McLaren will take it too complacently as usual and have a mixed year, and Red Bull will make gains if they get a decent engine. Honda may improve, and Force India will make a massive step forward if they get the McLaren B team deal. But Ferrari and Toyota will be a mystery and Toro Rosso will fall back, particularly if Red Bull get a Ferrari engine deal as well. But at this stage in the game it's just pot luck. It could just end up as roughly the same order as last year

And the sudden banning of ground effect at the end of 82.

I'd like to see Heidfeld, Webber and Toyota win next year. Outside that, I don't feel there's anyone that I feel particularly deserves a maiden victory yet. (Of course it's particularly small as almost everyone has a victory now).

If Honda have a decent car, I'd like to see Rubens win at Interlagos and then announce his retirement with immediate effect.

I also want to see Monty win a major, Jimmy White win the Snooker Championship, Tottenham qualify the Champions League and someone that's not Rangers or Celtic win the SPL.

Good season overall, but as there were many races that were to be honest boring, I'd say 8-9.
