Newey has a habit of producing more downforce with less drag, wasn't there times last year when the Red Bull was fastest on the straights? Imagine how fast that car would be with a Merc engine in the back of it.

Gary Anderson says the Red Bull is the most "Basic" car, aerodynamically, and muses if they are just running a bare chassis now while saving some of their more ground-breaking aero bits for the 2nd test to get a baseline/shakedown on the chassis without giving too much away of what they're planning with the rest of it.

I get the impression that Merc and Ferrari are playing low-key cat and mouse. Ferrari has been consistently close to Mercedes on the next hardest compound tyre, and matching them on the same compound.

Hard to tell who is sandbagging here; would be nice if one of the sites covering the tests would report on long run pace.

Of course, Red Bull could turn up next week with a Newey Special aero kit and upset them both.

Findia currently gaining some funds by fielding Alfonso Celis, who has lapped around 18 seconds off the pace.

This seems fine.

Gary Anderson reckons the Ferrari looks more planted and consistent than the Mercedes. Let's all cross fingers and toes that they are within reach this season.

I'm hoping there's puns galore next season. "Lance strolls back to the pits because he's buried his car in a tyre barrier"

First rumours and speculation in the Spanish press that Mclaren want to ditch Honda before the season begins

Nah it'll be fine, they can just stick a DFR or a Hart in the back and it'll be no problem.

Honda should have scored/formed a second team before season one. They'll never progress to where they should be having 1/4th of the mileage of the others.

If you believe the stories, they had a deal with Red Bull worked out in the summer of 2015 until McLaren nixed it.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.
