What I'm hoping for:
- Hulk takes Raikkonens seat
- Frijns takes Hulk his seat

Or Lotus want a driver with racing experience in the Lotus and replace Raikkonen with d'Ambrosio (although this is just some Belgian wishfull thinking).

Is Frijns still involved with Sauber? His role was already small, and since Sirotken came aboard it was pretty useless.

Something doesn't fit. Why would Lotus allow their top driver to have significant surgery in-season? That is unless this was the 'resolution' team and driver made in Abu Dhabi.

He is probably released early from his contract. Because 2 days ago I read he already had his seat fitting at Ferrari, that wouldn't have happened (or even in 2013) if he still was a Lotus driver.

No, Frijns/Sauber ended their relationship in early September.

It is convenient, but if he really does have severe back pain then it's best to do it now.

Reminds me of when Montoya had an accident playing tennis and/or riding a motorcycle and then we never saw him again. :)

That happened at the beginning of the 2005 season and he missed Bahrain and San Marino as far as I remember. He then however returned and even won some races with McLaren that year. He got fired after the US Grand Prix in 2006.

That incident did ruin Dennis and Montoya's relationship.

Montoya'a firing was an odd one. He didn't get sacked for poor performance or that incident at Indy with Raikkonen, but instead because he chose to sign for Ganassi's Nascar squad and announced it without telling McLaren.

Lotus now confirm that Raikkonen won't go to Austin/Interlagos. Replacement to be announced 'in due course'.

I don't know how people can still be passionate about that sport that has more politics than racing. and by racing I mean dull circus with cars that got shit tyres, blocked engines and stupid look. Can F1 fans tell me why they like the sport? It could be a thread tho: "Who likes F1 and why", and having to mention when you started watching it.

How was Perez disappointing and Button deserving of praise in Abu Dhabi when Perez outqualified and finished ahead of Button?

It definitely sounds like they (i.e. Whitmarsh) want Perez gone.

Well Button has 60 points and Perez 35, not just looking at the last race. Last 2 races from him are really good, maybe he finally found his rhythm again. But that might be a bit too late.

Anyway, you can leave it to Whitmarsh to make the bad decisions, he always finds a way to fuck things up.

Well 12 seconds ahead of Button who was on very old tyres at the end. To be honest it really should have been bigger.

Please, no average Valsecchi.

If they can still win position(s) in the WCC, they should already get Hulk, if he is really their intention for next year. Afterall, Hulk is free to go from Sauber as they don't pay him.

I don't see any reason why Hulk would "chicken"(for lack of better term) either given he would be already secured a seat at Lotus next season no matter the eventual performance he shows in a unknown 2013 Lotus machinery.

They're working on the basis that he should have done better on his own strategy, not just what Button does in comparison.

McLaren has done this in the past - I think with Kovalainen the tipping point was Italy 2009 when he totally fucked his strategy. If they really, really believe in Magnussen they should put him in the seat for 2014, to be prepared for 2015.

And this way they can put Vandoorne in Buttons seat in 2015. I really have the feeling McLaren wants both their own drivers in the car at some point and they can't put 2 rookies in the car in 2015.

Would they really want such an inexperianced pair in 2015?
