Honda has a strong bond with Button I think.

Heidfeld replaced Kubica in 2011, and was later replaced himself by Senna later on in the season.

That is indeed a good point to each and every one of the ongoing discussions in the thread.

DAT ARROWS.

My thought exactly when I saw that picture. Great looking piece of car. Don't like the plain white rear wing side plate, but overall it's great.

That looks cool, but the '98 black Arrows was the best.

Tobias, thanks for the reminder of how colored the field was before F1 started to have that slick professional glamour snobish looks with chrome and serious dark colors everywhere.

Surprised this hasn't been posted (or maybe I missed it). Stepney speaks about the "corporate espionage" that got him banned and Ferrari's illegal 2007 car.

"I like to try to win on a fair basis but when I was there I disagreed with something that was going on within Ferrari," he told the magazine. "I thought it was not correct, and although I was wrong to discuss it [with a rival], winning until you get stopped was not the correct way. It went against the grain." -

So rather than doing the honorable thing by going to the FIA. Stepney chose to sell out his team to McLaren and made attempt sabotage Ferrari at Monaco GP. Spare me the, "I like to try to win on a fair basis" crap. He was just pissed off at Ferrari because he wasn't promoted to technical director.

This kind of thing doesn't surprise me. Back in 2008 he spoke about some irregularities with how he was being treated in the aftermath of the spy scandal. But that doesn't mean any of what he says is true.

LOL Ferrari cost Alonso the title in 2007, the irony.

I thought that was common knowledge actually.... Not the amount or who but the fact that he payed teams to sign it.

Bernie's interpretation of words such as threats, bribes etc. is not the same as the majority of people, what we see as a bribe he see's as a goodwill payment. He would make an excellent politician as he operates in exactly the same way as them.

You got to remember Bernie started out as a second hand car & bike salesman, where if you wanted to get a deal done, the only way sometimes was to sweeten it for someone, he also knows the law and it's definition and knows full well as long as he maintains the defence that he was simply paying to help people and was not paying a public official to change the law, it's not a bribe in the essence of the law, even if it is proven to be later, he wasn't aware of that at the time, it's the same plausible denial-ability that politicians use - see Tony Blair and Iraq as a prime example.

He's probably already sent some rather generous "goodwill" to the judges....followed by a bitch slap!

Fernando Alonso and his Ferrari team will not know until Monday whether he will be able to race in the US Grand Prix at Austin next weekend.

The Spaniard has to undergo a medical check in order to be released to fly to the US on Tuesday, after his spine-jarring incident in Abu Dhabi, where he went off the track while exiting the pits alongside Jean Eric Vergne. He flew over several high kerbs and jarred his back, necessitating a visit to the hospital after the race.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport’s Pino Allievi, were Alonso to fail his medical check, Ferrari would draft in Jules Bianchi, who races with Marussia but is part of the Ferrari young driver programme.

Badoer back would be one of the best things ever in F1. I rarely laughed so hard as the last time he was around. Hell will freeze over before that happens, though.

After reading Hembery's interview on f1.com, I get the feeling Pirelli will go very conservative in the start of next season due to the lot's of unkown/imprecision regarding the 2014 cars' demands. And I hope that's the case because the tyres can't be the centre of attention when there will be so much new things to look up for

Heh, they will go ultra conservative because they can't know exactly what the new power units will do. Ironically, the teams then realised that ultra-durable tyres would help Red Bull, create boring racing and then asked Pirelli to go with similar tyres to 2011-13.

Teams: Hey Pirelli, can you try and spice up the racing again?
Pirelli: Okay,can we test?
Teams: No.
