Multiple reports coming in that the teambosses agreed on the double points AKA "we hate our fans and do everything to drive them away"

FIA should impose that ffs, everybody lose a bit of downforce and everybody would have better looking cars

I can't see common sense from anybody there

Maybe it's temporary until they get Brawn, I hope :tumble:

Oh my...

Sam Michael and F1 teams:

Lotus - joined 1993, went bust 1994
Jordan - joined, 1994, left 1999, performance deteriorated and sold in 2005
Williams - joined 1999, performance deteriorated from 2005, left 2011 and team still not fully recovered pace
McLaren - joined 2012, performance and reliability immediately started deteriorating

Anyone notice the theme?

Double points remains because the teams won't stand up to Bernie, ergo Bernie now has the power to do whatever he likes

it would be very funny if Vettel wins 10 straight races from the start and abu dhabi gp and their double points turn into a fiasco

Vettel will probably win the title this year because of those double points are just what he needed at the final GP to make up the gap to the championship leader.

I know I shouldn't respond to your trolling, but...

Jordan grew each year and peaked in 1999, it went downhill when Michael left. I really don't think these facts are related.
He joined Williams in 2001, the team was already not getting near the performances of the 80's and 90's.
McLaren have built fast but unreliable cars for years now. 2012 was actually one of the better years.

Trolling? Seriously? Wow, that's a little unnecessarily harsh.

kals is combining 2 facts that are obviously not related, I assume to start a discussion that leads to nowhere.

For example, I could do the same when I wanted to say how Frentzen was bad for F1:
Williams and Jordan: entered the team when it was great and race-winning, left the team in a mess.
Joined Prost, who went bancrupt the year after
Joined Arrows, who went bancrupt the same year
Joined Sauber, they had some bad races afterwards.
Went to DTM with Opel, Opel withdrew one year later.

Bad Frentzen!

I think Michael has had as much influence on the good/bad performances of the team, as Frentzen had. Now that Michael is rumoured to become teamchef, it is maybe his first opportunity to show that he is worth something or not.

In Patrick Head's last season as TD at Williams, Williams finished 4th in the WCC.

In Sam Michael's last season as TD at Williams, Williams finished 9th in the WCC.

He was fine as a race engineer. He would probably do an okay job as head of engineering. But he's just not good enough to do anything more senior than that.

Unless he is going to play as Ron's marionette, and have no real power himself, this is only going to end one way for McLaren.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Got up on the wrong side of bed this morning? You're being unnecessarily aggressive about something which is such a minor point.

I was using a link which has been pointed out quite a few times... in that every team Sam Michael has worked at in F1 has slumped and / or gone out of business. He's like a black widow in F1. It doesn't mean he directly contributed towards a team's demise, it's just a link and nothing more.

It was a humorous point I was trying to make but yeah, instead let's not take it at face value let's overanlalyze the original point and come up with aggressive remarks instead.

Nice one!

If this appalling double points thing does go ahead, I hope that Vettel takes his 5th championship by winning the final race and overtaking somebody else in the standings. Absolutely pathetic.

HHF was not related to the managing and running of the team. If you said it directly related car reliability then yeah sure, HHF is a good example because he could've overstressed a car. As it is, he just joined bad teams run by people who didn't know what they were doing.

Sam is an engineer and director at these teams. When he joins, the team suffers engineering and directing issues. Is that not a bit..obvious? I mean at one point he was directly in charge of the training and execution of the pit stops in McLaren...whilst they were fucking awful. and he defended himself by saying that they had the fastest pit stop in F1 - also ignored that McLaren made by far the most mistakes whilst he was in charge too.

Alonso 49 points ahead of Vettel going into Abu Dhabi. The German winning, Alonso DNF. Just imagine...

I would love it if it happened. :p I can only think that the rule is being brought in because Vettel ran away with the title this season and they want to make sure it's decided at a later date. However, with the rule changes this season, it's very possible that Red Bull/Vettel won't be the dominant package; at least to begin with. So I see no logical reason for changing the points. And that's ignoring all the other million reasons why it's a dumb idea.

I don't see where I am aggressive or angry. I am still not angry btw, but you couldn't tell because it is the internet.

I can tell again why I said what I said, but I think I could only repeat my sarcastic and therefore humerous view on the career of Frentzen that proves that two random facts often don't make a connection.
