Especially as 2013 seemed dimly promising for them having made progress through the season towards Caterham at some races, and having vowed to actually get the car ready in time for more than an afternoon's testing ... albeit with Max Chilton at the wheel. [/Obligatory Chilton remark.]

So, NO Bernie, 20 is not the perfect number. It's the bare minimum.

Have you actually read why Bernie believes 10 teams is the perfect number?? I guess not since Bernie made his point quite clear.

Why would Mercedes want Haug to leave their team? Especially now that Lewis is joining them. I think it's a strange decision and an unfortunate one, cause I always liked the man.

They're being forced out?

Maybe they looked at the Theissen situation. After he left it didn't got worse for BMW. But then again why would you want Haug out of Mercedes?

They're going to re-animate Alfred Neubauer ...

Who is saying Haug is being forced out of Mercedes? He's been an integral part of the company's success in motorsport for the past 20'ish years, maybe he felt it was time to stand down and slow down.

He is 60, so maybe he is just looking to retire and scale down activities.

RUMORS
Bianchi set to secure Force India seat

Dec.13 (GMM) Jules Bianchi has leapt into pole position to join Paul di Resta at Force India next year.
Earlier, it was expected the Silverstone based team's former race driver Adrian Sutil was the favourite to replace the Sauber-bound Nico Hulkenberg in 2013.

But Finland's Turun Sanomat newspaper said the new favourite is 2012 Force India reserve Bianchi, a 23-year-old rookie who is backed by Ferrari and managed by Felipe Massa's manager, Nicolas Todt, the son of FIA president Jean.
"The announcement is expected before Christmas," said correspondent Heikki Kulta.
Kulta added that Force India's reportedly likely switch from Mercedes to Ferrari engine power for the 2014 V6 regulations was "a decisive factor" in Bianchi's favour.

I always wanted to see him in F1, I hope he gets the seat. Would be strange to see Sutil there again.

So hoping he would get the seat. He is a driver F1 needs. Talented and fearless. Sure we got Maldonado and Grosjean, but I think he has a lot more potential.

Why would anyone want to force out Marussia? There's been much worse teams in the past, they usually qualify within 107%, what's the benefit from forcing them out?

They don't agree with his concord agreement so he is forcing them to sign like this. His usual way of business. Someone needs to pay the huge bills from his daughters.

The President of Marussia Cars has confirmed that, so long as they make it to Australia, Max Chilton will be one of the drivers.

Yeah, but after 3 years they should be kinda close to the others. They're still a pretty sizeable gap.

Marussia are still using Cosworth and Xtrac equipment and 2012 was a consolidation year, starting to work on the technical partnership with McLaren and completely eradicate all of CFD from their car designs. Caterham are using most of the back end of a Red Bull along with a Renault engine. And yet (from Belgium onwards) are only just beating Marussia. Marussia has made the most progress in closing the gap to the established teams in 2012 whereas Caterham has stayed on a constant in comparison to 2011 performance. Both teams are on a shoestring budget in comparison to the rest of the grid, which will hinder progress.
