I'm with you on that one, nea.

God do I hate this kind of emo crap! It only kills credibility, and creates embarrassment for everyone.

As a child I was useless at football, and still got picked up for the finals only as a cheering measure as I had suffered a difficult injury earlier that year. It felt horribly embarrassing and I hated every minute of it, because other players deserved to be there. Sorry for the personal story here, but that's what people should keep in mind whenever they try to make a "positive" action like this.

Ecclestone confirms talks over Turkish GP
5 December 2012

Bernie Ecclestone has confirmed that he and the new management at Istanbul Park are meeting this week to discuss the potential return of the Turkish Grand Prix. The Formula 1 supremo has been searching for an extra race for the 2013 campaign after the planned New Jersey Grand Prix was forced into a one year postponement.

A meeting of the World Motorsport Council is taking place in the city of Istanbul throughout this week, with Ecclestone in attendance in a bid to resurrect the event.

"I am going to Istanbul to see if we can get the Turkish GP back before participating at the World Council,” Ecclestone explained to Italy’s Gazzetta dello Sport.

Istanbul Park hosted the Turkish Grand Prix from 2005 to 2011. Felipe Massa is the most successful driver at the circuit, winning in 2006, 2007 and 2008 respectively.

I wonder if there are other prospects. I guess France is on the wishlist too.

I believe France wasn't going to happen in 2013, but either way I would be happy if one of them will be put on the calendar next year.

FIA have made some changes to the technical & sporting rgulations for 2013 & 2014.
http://www.fia.com/news/world-motor-sport-council-2012

Quote:
FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

The date for the 2013 Grand Prix of Germany has been moved to 7 July, and 21 July has been reserved for another F1 European event, subject to the approval of the relevant ASNs.

Amendments have been made to the 2013 and 2014 Sporting and Technical Regulations:

2013 F1 Technical Regulations

More stringent front wing deflection tests have been introduced.

Minor changes have been made to the front roll structure design.

There is an increase in minimum weight to compensate for an increase in tyre weight for 2013.

Deletion of the ‘force majeure’ allowance when a car stops on the track in qualifying. The FIA will determine how much fuel the car would have used to get back to the pits and add it to the one litre sample minimum.

All chassis will now have higher static loads applied to them (formerly only one chassis was tested to the higher loads with subsequent chassis being tested to 20% lower proof loads).

2013 F1 Sporting Regulations

For safety reasons, use of the DRS during practice will now only be allowed in the place(s) it will be used on the track in the race.

The team personnel curfew will be extended from six to eight hours on Thursday night and only two exceptions will be allowed during a season (formerly four).

2014 F1 Technical Regulations

A new draft with numerous changes was discussed and agreed by the F1 Technical Working Group and Powertrain Working Group.

The requirement for cars to be driven exclusively under electric power in the pit lane has been postponed until 2017.

A number of changes have been made to the power unit regulations with the aim of limiting technology in some areas in order to reduce development costs.

Changes made to bodywork design, originally aimed at reducing downforce and drag for increased efficiency, have reverted to 2012 specification.

The minimum weight limit has been raised to compensate for additional power unit weight.

So DRS will still be allowed anywhere in Qualifying? I thought the change applied to Q too and not just FP hmm...

Qualifying is technically called Qualifying Practice, so it does apply to both.

Yup, Marcel.

And, tbh, I'm kind of confused with it. Are they saying there will be no aerodynamic change, whatsoever, as was being said before?

I was so much looking forward to it as it would have narrower front wings, wider rear wings and lower noses. :(

Not as far as I'm aware of. Eurosport won't show anything either.

Footage of it might be posted here:

well, at least this time it will be a very deserving one, imho.

Political choices apart, this year the US GP really was a great introduction in the calendar. The circuit is okay, it gave no headache to anybody, in terms of infra-structure, and a massive crowed attended the location with no major troubles, as far as I know.

I really haven't heard a bad word about it ...

And frankly, they deserve to win for the hats ... the hats were a massive stroke of winning.

Yeh COTA deserve it, just look at Korea - its the same as 2010 (they are still painting the kerbs before FP1)
And they even added Kermit the frog and Lewis was lucky to pick that prize this year

Such an enbarasment.

Briatore hints at his drivers' true motives in Brazil.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Yeah the man who was done for race fixing has a problem with friends helping each other.

When will the world realise nobody cares what Flavio thinks.

Hmmm... Flavio complaining about underhand tactics....

Let's see his track record shall we?

1994 - Option 13 aka Traction Control
1994 - Removal of fuel filter from the Intertechnique system
2008 - Singapore and Piquet

I'm sure I'm missing a few more so I'll fill out the blanks as I remember them.

I was trying to draw attention to the final 2 paragraphs, which are more revealing than the guff about Schumacher.

I know, I saw the bit about Webber helping Ferrari... but again, the point is more about Flavio complaining about underhand tactics then contradicting it with facts about the way he and people in his control behave.
