I would imagine that car 'health' info can be shown on the display, but then again instructing a driver to park would probably also come under the umbrella of safety.

lmao. This is just fucking stupid.

"Nico! The car has a major problem! Pit now!" - penalty
"Nico! Pit now!" - no penalty
"Nico! I know it's a practice session but the ERS is about to fail, pit now!" - penalty
"Nico, Lewis is faster. Let him pass!" - no penalty.

Well this is precisely it. In the past the drivers would notify the pit wall that there was a problem and then make the decision to pit. The driver was in control and made the decisions. Now it's the opposite.

But in reality it is a perception thing. Instead of banning the radio transmissions going on, the FIA / FOM should ban the radio transmissions being aired.

Hell no, banning the radio transmissions form being aired would put us back in the stone ages in terms of fan immersion. I love hearing what's really going on.

So then perhaps the FIA / FOM should reconsider how much radio content they broadcast? Right now, and considering what we had to listen to at Silverstone between Vettel and Alonso, they are providing too much.

And sometimes they provide too little, cutting some of what the driver says so it sounds like he's whinging.

So you're saying the broadcasters intentionally manipulate the content of the radio transmissions so to create sensationalism. Well I never!

I really don't fucking care anymore. This is just another half arsed attempt to fix the falling ratings and it's flawed but also not the main problem.

It's like they know there is a problem but don't know how to fix it. Mmm this door is jamming a bit maybe if I put a few nails trough it it opens up better....

Want to fix the ratings? Stop putting it behind a fucking paywall. The people you are loosing now where watching because it was easily available to them to watch. They will not now, not tomorrow with this rule, pay for it to watch the races.

This is such a strange enforcement by the FIA. I personally don't consider it infringement of the rule about the driving driving unaided. But rather I think it just comes with the territory of modern F1 with all the advanced telemetry available today. It's part of the overall package and if drivers are using their engineers across the board for input then at least it's balanced.

So I really don't know why they're trying to fix a problem which doesn't exist rather than focusing on more bigger issues. Typical FIA though...

let's see how it gets on the track. could be funny to see less than 10 cars finishing a race. might be 10 years since the last time that happened

They can't use the radio to message things but as far as I can see it pitboards are still allowed. And as I also see it it's regarding actual messages.
So what if a team records a bunch of message, puts in in the car and on the pitboard they put 2 green dots and a yellow. Which means the driver has to push an initial button which for now we call select, followed by twice a green button and the yellow one once. This starts a set recording telling the driver to do whatever they want him to do.

Have multiple colors and you have tons of messages you can play. No pit to car communications according to the rulebook but they still get their message across.

So what happens when it rains? Can they tell the driver? The driver will use this information to adapt his driving to the rain he now knows is there. This means he isn't driving the car unaided. So, if they tell a driver its raining, will they get a penalty?

Also, if telling the driver something is considered aiding the driver in driving the car, then surely changing 4 tyres for him is also a considerable aid? Will drivers be penalised after every pit stop? Because under this vauge and unenforceable rule, they receive aid in driving the cars at pit stops.

They have to use both types of tyres so either that one overrules this one or you get penalized for following the rules.

So if they have a puncture and they pit to get it changed, is that a penalty? Or is that ok because this vague rule isn't going to apply to this?

Usual bullshit from the rule makers.
