The 2004 race had a sprinkle of rain as well. If I remember correctly there was also a small shower before the race.

This could be one hell of a weird grand prix for a lot of reasons.

Correct.

It also rained in Qatar in 2010 for the MotoGP opener. I guess they only get a few days of rain a year, but it has to fall at some point!

It'll probably have stopped racing when the race starts. I can't imagine it raining for 2 hours.

All reports suggest that it's thundery rain, and it's not going to do that for 2 hours.

It might however, stop for a while and then return sometime during the race...

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Either way, it's going to affect track conditions. I read that rain makes it dustier (who knew?) so we could have reduced grip.

back to dry for now.

I doubt if the drivers would have even stopped for different tyres.

I'd imagine depending on how much it rains, the water mixed with the dust could make a sort of slush

I think the crucial aspect is track temperature. It's so, so important this year - three of four degrees changes the nature of the race.

What time does the race start? F1 website says in 10 minutes, Sky says in an hour and 10.
