He has a point about the age but calling it the worst thing ever is exaggerating. It's not that Max is getting the seat only because of his last name and/or a shitload of money. It's actual talent that made them sign him.
If that talent will be shown is another.

Jacques and Jos don't seem to be the best of friends so maybe that also makes him a bit biased. I bet if it was his own child he probably already could have driven F1 at the age of 15. :whistling:

, I think the main point is being missed though and that's what I mentioned in the answer. What does it matter how you get to the top echelon of the sport? The answer is... it doesn't. What matters is what you do with it once you get there. And as JV proved during his time in F1, it doesn't matter how much talent and experience you have prior to F1, you can still squander your opportunity and look like an utter joke.

Sainz and Merhi will apparently race for Caterham at some point this year.

Read the last paragraph, the rules stipulate that only 4 drivers can be used for the season (didn't even know that was a rule), unless they can prove force majeure, which is something that I doubt the FIA will approve As an aside, I wonder what the most amount of drivers used in a team for a complete year is?

Jordan in 1993 would have to be up there; Barrichello, Capelli, Boutsen, Apicella, Naspetti, Irvine

Last time there has been over 4 was Prost in 2001. Force majeure was obviously used due to Burti injury. Otherwise they would have been forced to bring Mazzacane back for last three races.

If Lotterer beats Ericson in the race, they should just keep him. No point in taking an other risk when the last big risk turned out fine.

For Lotterer it is Audi>Caterham, and WEC starts again soon. I don't think Caterham has much of a choice.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

This discussion on Max Verstappen is amazing, as everyone is using Kimi and the like as a comparison. Like comparing drivers to exceptional drivers who win world championships, before they've even driven an F1 car is a good idea. Of course we could go the opposite direction and pick Yuji Ide. A man who was fine outside of an F1 car and showed no signs of being so bad that he'd have his license taken away. But he did.

I'm not saying Max is as bad as Ide was, but the danger here is a young mans career gets destroyed before it's even begun because he gets put in too early and is expected to be exceptional from the start. Alguersuari comes to mind.

Are there any rumours of a second team being supplied with Honda engines yet? I can imagine that a 2nd Honda-team would get a lot of usefull data.

Funny to see how different Spa looked 14 years ago. Still a tight La Source with no run off at the exit, Eau Rouge that looks less of a straight line, Pouhon all gravel, and ofcourse the brilliant Busstop chicane

It isn't about the super license. I'm sure he can handle the car. It's about putting drivers in cars too early and ruining their career.

And as long as people keep using exceptions to prove the rule then we'll continue to cycle through young drivers at a record rate, whilst they disappear off to Formula E and commentary booths around the world.

well, somebody has to drive formula E

I believe Honda have said that for 2015 they want to focus just on 1 team but that from 2016 there open to supplying other teams.

Oh yay, a circuit that looks like the lovechild of Valencia and Abu Dhabi. Although I'll reserve my full cynicism until racing begins as it could turn out to be fantastic.

What I like the most about these tracks are the turns like this T1. Some people might take it flat, some might not. Those corners seperate the mans from the boys.

Meh. That whole Olympic park gives a ghost-town feel to the place. Hopefully the racing delivers.
