"released" seems to have a very positive sound to it

Yes, Dutch news also reports that he isn't in coma anymore and has left the hospital (more to follow). This was all stated by Sabine Kehm, according to the news.

Why has he left the hospital straight away? Surely he'd be getting better care there.

Whilst this is fantastic news in a general sense, I should probably be the killjoy who points out that 6 months in a coma will have left him in a pretty terrible state overall. We don't yet know how much of Michael remains, or how much of a recovery is possible now. Still, out of a coma is infinitely better than in one.

He has apparently gone to a specialist rehabilitation centre. They should be able to provide much more focussed care, and he will free up a bed in the ICU this way.

Coma is just a medical term meaning prolonged periods of unconsciousness that cannot be interrupted by outside influence or stimulation, "no longer in a coma" does not mean he hopped up and walked out the hospital either.

It's good news, but the fact they plan no more updates ever, should tell you enough.

perhaps it wasnt straight away.. perhaps he was out of the Coma 6 weeks ago when the last round of rumors came up..

The hospital is/was the best place for him and im sure that niether the Doctors or family would want him to move unless they were 100% sure the time was right.. and also bear in mind that Time is something that Michael has plenty of.. just let it happen, to coin a UK phrase, Time is a great healer... and its not like he has to get better and get back to work is it!

Just to say though, its a shame they have been so secret with it, and i do think his PR people have done a dreadful job keeping his fans even remotely informed of what was happening, yes the family are private, but the legend, to his many millions of fans, is public property..

What they need to do now is quickly get a photo out there of him sat up in bed surrounded by get well cards and flowers, his wife and kids at his side and the worlds pessimists will leave him alone to get better.

In an of itself, this is great news and it has made me happy. As to the scale and length of his rehabilitation period, we really don't know very much, but I'm glad to have this.

So0 they have botched the good news, by not revealing anything else other than he is no longer in a coma and just adding more fuel to the fire for gossip. Bloody hell, privacy issues aside, this has got to be some of the the worst lessons in PR that someone can demonsrtate.
