Autosport.com is always hours, if not days behind most sites. F1.com isn't a news site and shouldn't be considered useful media.

Can you imagine what will happen on this forum if he flips or does a barrel roll during his first race? :8:

Going to stick my neck out and say that this is far too soon and Verstappen bombs. Raikkonen did it but that was at a different time. The cars were easier to drive, there was more testing and he had a much more supportive team. He also doesn't give a shit. Max doesn't have any of this

So you're suggesting that Red Bull are rushing a driver into F1 despite having little experience but will put him under huge pressure and will hold him to far too high expectations. Now there's a shocker... ;)

When was the last time a driver successfully transitioned from Sports Cars to F1? I'm struggling to think of one. In fact the last time something like happened I think it ended up with someone losing their super license and Christian Albers on his roof.

I would lay the value of my house on the belief that Max asked for F1 next year. Mercedes and Red Bull got into a bidding war over him and this is where the price ended up.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Didn't schumi drive Group C and F3000 at the same time?

He did 1 race in Japanese F3000. His main focus in 1991 was sportscars

I don't think it's an issue for Lotterer. He has driven in Super Formula/Formula Nippon for years and has also done a fair bit of F1 testing. I think he'll surprise people. Would be very cool if he gets it

He is 2011 Formula Nippon Champion.

Just read that Verstappen is going to do F1 next year? That's really dumb by all parties. He could do at least three more years in F3/FR3.5 and still be ready to win before he's 21. He's putting himself in a situation with no margin for error. If he doesn't win in a year and a half, they'll chuck him to the side.

It's premature, but you can use examples on both sides to show there's no rule for everyone.

Da Costa was ready in 2012, but there was no seat and he had another year in FR3.5. Look how that panned out.

But equally, there's a flip side, as you say.

Red Bull obviously wanted him and an STR seat was their bargaining tool when up against Mercedes for Max's services. I think they probably wanted to hire Sainz for 2015, with Max for 2016 perhaps. I just hope Max's management haven't pushed him.

It looks like a loose-loose situation. Too much pressure on the kid, too inexperienced too, but desperation from his management to get him to F1 at all costs and from Red Bull to get him from Mercedes. Getting him into F1 was the most important thing for the management (family?), getting him away from a possible career with Mercedes was the most important thing for Red Bull. It all sounds very desperate to me (I may be a bit cynical though).

A big surprise. As he is still very young and Red Bull need to nurture him properly and give him time. Not like when they got rid of Algluesuari, Buemi and Jean Eric Verege.

Let's face it, I'm a quicker and a more informative source when it comes to things like the BTCC than Autosport is.

He's too young, and I think they are rushing it a bit. Maybe a year or two in GP2,just to have the necessary experience. He could end up like Algersuari, good driver, made history, was never outstanding but got sucked for no real reason.

Great news from Max Verstappen! He's a real talent. Although I think he's way too young to drive in F1 already next season. He should get more experience in GP2 or 3.5. But well, let's wait and see. Can't wait to see him in the car and surprise us. Should be interesting :) The pressure is very high. He has to be on top of his performance right from the start. No time to waste!

Just like his dad, brought in too soon...

This shows how fast it can go in F1. Vergne was faster than Ricciardo in 2012, and could keep up in 2013. And look who is now established and look who has to look for a seat in the upcoming months.
