It's a shame, especially for us dutch fans getting our hopes up. I hope this isn't the end for him but you can say alot about dutch sponsors not willing to support their own talent. It's not just a matter of money but also motive/mind-set. And that's what's lacking in dutch top sport climate in whatever sport you name even soccer apart from the dutch national squad.

Who manages this guy? 3 years and 3 championships. Surely some one out there sees the potential and is willing to invest in him/help him get sponsorship.

Red Bull wanted him in their program but he rejected them because "they plan your career and you're nothing more than their dog...."

Hopefully Red Bull forgives him and gives him another shot because otherwise his career is pretty much over without backers.

I think the track layout has been photoshopped in, but the rest of the construction seems to be moving along. The Olympics themselves are less than 6 months away.

This project is a fucking joke. No one of the ordinary citizens needs it (in my case the Olympics are bullshit too because of the amount of money spent on it). It's all about ephemeral "prestige" and VIP entertainment.

Just read that they are the most expensive Olympics Games (Winter or Summer) in history.

Some Olympic venues end up being white elephants, just look at Athens.

Holy shit. I thought they overdone themselves in China. Guess it can get bigger.

I'd love to see a country doing a back to basics Olympics. No multi-billion venues, no multi-million opening and closing ceremony just standard venue's, low key opening and closing and actually focusing on the sports not the BS around it.

It'd be good but there is zero chance of the IOC choosing a venue that proposes that. They're completely out of touch of the actual spirit of the games, and have been for a while. The Eddie the Eagle Rule is proof of that.

If you bribe them enough you'll get it but that defeats the whole purpose of a back to basics olympics :o

Yeah but that's like people expecting the Eurovision Song Contest to be about the music, right?

London did a good job in using existing venues and "discardable" locations for their games, made the whole thing a lot more economical. Sadly, the Russians and the Chinese aren't fans of that (the Greeks are just morons).

I think Brazil will actually achieve something like that, most the venues are already there just needing a little touching up.
