I will be very please if someone in the front hit the armco at turn 8 and jam the track (or cause a Spa 98 situation)

of course not, they'll place a permanent yellow right after incidents on FP2

I'm surprised those straights are allowed to be as long without random chicanes in the middle of them to slow the cars down tbf.

Don't give charlie any ideas, they could still add a temp chicane or two yet.... :o

Valencia also had those massive straights, Webber used them fully to flip.

the track is below sea level, so cars might go slower than on tracks above sea level

It's only like -28 meters (-92ft) so compared to 0 meters at Monaco and Montreal the difference shouldn't be that huge. Mexico wasn't that different either and that was 2,285 m (7,500 ft) so I don't see a major role for the elevation. It's never a big factor with turbocharged engines anyway.

e: just noticed that I quoted/commented your post few times in a row Lucas. Please don't be offended as my intention was not to argue with everything you say.

Fuji was allowed, and this technically isn't one straight, its got those jinks in it.

Below sea level? Nobody seen the photo of the track running alongside the sea then?

Caspian sea (more like a lake :P) is below sea level, and it was quite top secret during cold war

It looks a bit more forgiving than I had hoped. I thought the corner exits would be right against the wall, like a proper street circuit. But the kerbs are still a bit away (a lot closer than most modern circuits, though). Guess we'll have to see how it really looks on Friday.

Forgiving?

These fences are not going to forgive you anything.

all we can expect is that high temperatures can kill tires quicker than in other street circuits

Are that real curbs or just paint? They look rather flat. Hope we don't get that 'stay between the white lines bs'.

In case anyone was interested, turn 16 to turn 1 is 1.4 miles. In comparison, the main straight at Fuji is 0.9 miles. :o
